mapsonx
Please forgive what may be an awkward explanation  Having trouble trying to home network XP Home & 2000 pro. Been to the newsgroups & realize I'm not alone. Maybe it's a losing battle, but i'm gonna keep at it. Systray icons say "network cable is unplugged', but cable is plugged in & both NIC's are recognized. Started by using the wizard in XP (TCP/IP). Then uninstalled TCP/IP & tried NetBeui. Win 2000 now shows "Incoming Connection" in Network Connections, but it does not appear in XP. At this point I'd just like to start over from scratch. How do I get rid of the Network Connections that show in My Network Places/Network Connection (I show 2 in XP: wan & lan) that were created using TCP/IP, & return it them to the default state. (non-configured). Delete is greyed out in the context menu. I know I can uncheck the installed components in a given connection (TCP\IP, etc.), but it still remains in the Network Connection window. Any other suggestions appreciated :D Thx - J -
cjbeckwith
I am not going to answer your question directly but try to clarify your connection setup. Are you using a hub/switch/router to connect the two devices or are you using a cable to cable connection? If using a cable are you using a crossover cable? Have you tried more than one cable at each of the workstations? I know alot of questions but setting up a network connection should not be that difficult. Also, make sure that you are defining valid ip addresses for both of your workstations.
