Saurabh32
Ubisoft just slipped the PC version of Splinter Cell: Conviction from April 16 to April 30.The 360 version remains unaffected at April 16. The news comes after another turbulent day for Ubi?s PC games, with Assassin?s Creed II and Silent Hunter V being removed from Steam in the UK as the result of a ?business discussion? between the publisher and Valve. Source Hope that they not making their draconian drm more restrictive. Nagisan
Somehow this does not surprise me...... Hope they are delaying it to remove the crappy internet connection required DRM, but I highly doubt that is the case. If they remove it, great, I will likely buy the game, otherwise, too bad for them, they are simply losing sales because of it. goji
^ Don't count on it. If AC 2 gets properly cracked then expect the same process to be applied to SC down the road, that is if they keep the same DRM bs. I know, but one can hope, and its certainly the only way I will buy any single-player game. The point of single player games is to be able to entertain yourself without an internet connection. Requiring one to play the game sort of defeats the purpose IMO. goji
O I agree. This is just one more way to kill PC gaming IMO. Imagine publishers insisting on an constant online connection while plying the 360 or PS3. People would revolt! (maybe) The more that I read about this form of DRM the more I believe console is the only fair way to play now :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/884982-splinter-cell-conviction-pc-delayed/#findComment-592369124 Share on other sites
spaceelf
I'm definately buying the PC ver. If their new hosted platform deal doesn't get them to release DLC on the PC version too though, THEN I'll be royally ****ed. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted March 19, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 19, 2010 If Ubisoft removes their unnecessary DRM then maybe, just maybe... I'll consider buying it on the PC. bob_c_b
If Ubisoft removes their unnecessary DRM then maybe, just maybe... I'll consider buying it on the PC. This. Planning on playing this on 360, but if the delay is to remove the horrid DRM, I'll go out of my way to support the decision. Let's not forget that UBI has tried in the past to listen to gamers. They released PoP (2008?) totally free of DRM and at $30 MSRP, because everyone swears if you release a game with no DRM at a fair price no one will pirate it. Instead the game was instantly on the torrents and downloaded like crazy. So while I don't like their new DRM, I also see where they feel like they are out of options. Saurabh32
It does not look like they are Doing Premature Death of the DRM. They are polishing it like adding more triggers and etc. for pop 2008's fail -> actually it was mediocre game so it's sales were obviously low Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/884982-splinter-cell-conviction-pc-delayed/#findComment-592371866 Share on other sites
spaceelf
I thought it was a great game myself. Got it for Christmas or something, and I'd intended to get the PC version but didn't, so I flat out couldn't believe it when they wouldn't release the DLC for the PC version. That was a major WTF moment. If they pull that with Conviction (hell, or anything else,) I'll say to hell with Ubi and never support them again. My point was that Ubi did play by the ruels gamers always say they will follow, and everyone stole the game anyway.
