Microsoft Word, Flow text from tabled 1st page to no table 2nd page

Recommended Posts

I have been working on a template where I have placed a two column table on the front page, left side being for a graphic for a letterhead, and right side column for text.

My problem is that on the second page, I would like the document to continue on without any table. I would like for the text to flow from the table into regular margin document on the second page. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Assuming you are using MS Word 2007:

At the end of your column on the right go "Page Layout" > "Breaks" > "Section Break" > "Next Page". This will allow you to remove the column formatting on the new page and return to full page text.

Word 2004

When I place the break where should my cursor be? At the bottom of the table on the first page or at the begining of the second page.

I tried doing so, and I'm still getting tables on both pages. Playing with it more. If I have text flow from page 1 to page 2 I keep getting the tables. If I past text onto page to document defaults back to normal margins. Why is not doing the same when text flows from page one to page two?

Thanks

Why not abandon the table entirely?

Create a section break (continuous) for the page that you'd like to be split into columns. Then fill it with content and somewhere before the end of the page, add another section break (continuous). Continue typing, and let the text flow onto the next page (in columns). Then set the column number to 1 for the following sections.

I'm using the table so that my graphic stays in place fixed width on first page, and then there is room for text to the right of the graphic in a two column table.

It would help if you could fill up the text document with random words and attach the document so that we could work on the formatting ourselves and figure it out.

Attached as a file as .dot with .doc extension. Rename to .dot to use file, as Neowin won't let me attach the .dot.

I placed in a temp graphic, the true graphic is letterhead graphic and will fill the left table, and not be moveable or editable.

Thanks
