Robert Culp, the actor who played the antagonist Wallace Breen in Half Life 2, has died at the age of 79.

Culp died after falling on a sidewalk in a park in Los Angeles, although it?s unknown if that was the cause of death.

He?ll mostly be remembered for his TV and movie work, but it was Half Life 2 that made him famous with gamers.

Culp?s role was as the overseer of City 17 in Half Life 2, Dr Wallace Breen, having previously been the administrator of the Black Mesa facility from Half Life 1.

He saved humanity from being exterminated by the Combine before the events of Half Life 2, but managed to broker a deal which seen the human race survive, but on terms of enslavery.

Culp is survived by his wife, five children and five grandchildren.

He had a great acting career before his video game days. Working with Bill Cosby in Ispy and the Cosby Show, on Everybody Loves Raymond and the Greatest American Hero. He will be missed. Hopefully they won't forget him in the Oscars next year...

D-:

Bad times for cinema AND HL2.

As for HL2:EP2 and HL3, I would assume they would remain unaffected, since we haven't seen him in the first 2 episodes. Sort of kills my theory that he'd be back though :(

Nothing, his character is already dead.

Go back & play HL2 ending people.

Take your own advice.

Do you actually SEE him die? No, you do not, you just assume he died due to the outcome of the events at the end of HL2.

The natural assumption to make is that Breen is killed in the explosion, but the player never actually sees him die. It is possible that he is alive, because the protective force field that shields him during his ascent is still running after the teleport itself explodes, and could possibly shield him from the explosion.

But, if you do follow through the stories of EP1 and 2, there are hints that is it possible that Breen survived and his conscious was transferred into an Advisors body.....while we will not know what exactly has happened to Breen until after the events of EP3 (hopefully), it is fully possible that he is alive, but in a state that they no longer need a voice actor for him, or can logically use a different voice actor.

Now, as for the OP, it is sad that such a great actor has died, while the only role I remember him for is Breen, he did a great job at it. Hopefully Valve can find good enough talent to finish any work they may have gotten done before he passed.
