Best (or worst!) non-boss enemy of all-time?

The Lickers from Resident Evil 2 were definitely a pain in the ass. That jumping attack where they swipe at you did a lot of damage, and that awful control/camera system didn't help. Half the battle was figuring out how to maneuver around them without running into a wall.

And I don't know what they're called, but those black headcrabs from Half-Life 2 that reduced you to one health with a single hit were scary as hell. Whenever I heard that hissing sound I just stopped dead in my tracks and checked all around me, shotgun in hand. I already have a weird irrational fear of spiders in real life, and those things just had a way of getting under my skin.

Torque Bow guy from Gears of War (the first one) deserves a mention as well. That one part when you're underground (with pools of immulsion around you) being shot at with Torque Bows took me so many tries, and this was on Hardcore. I can't even imagine what that part would have been like on Insane.

The worst has gotta be the Malboro from Final Fantasy.

RRRRRah.

>Malboro casts Bad Breath.

>All party members receive Poison, Confused, Berserk, and Sleep status.

>Strongest character kills member 1, 2.

>Strongest character kills himself.

FUUUUUUUUUU.

I don't know why but it has to be the Regenerator in Resident Evil 5. I remember the first time I met them, I wasted a whole clip of my Sub Machine gun and my Broken Butterfly, rendering the game finish after that part really hard. To top it off, once I found the Sniper Scope, they have a tendency to jump at you when you're think they're dead  . Of course, playing it again, I realised it was a piece of cake to finish the body punch bag :p . I still remember the spikes though...

Scirwode

the soldiers from the classic half life games... fighting the alien stuff up until the point i encountered them was fun, but after that the difficulty ramped way up

i hated how they had their machine gun bunkers, perfect accuracy, their grenades and especially how fast they moved... especially during the underground train level... but this was in 1998 and the mouse i used back then couldnt track for crap... ?and oh yeah, the next level after that where i fought the assassins, thats when i gave up on half life single player

10 years later , mouse technology has improved and so have my skills, and im playing through the source engine remake of half life 1... fighting the soldiers have stopped being frustrating and actually become quite fun, i could clear entire sections on one try when i used to get killed by the first soldier i saw ... i actually managed to nail a couple of those assassins with the crossbow, too

I really hate the satyr's from God of War 2 and 3. God, they're freakin' annoying.

You beat me to it, satyrs from God of War 3 were the only really challenging enemies in the entire game for me. Real pain in the ass to pin down. Love when you finally get to spear him with his own weapon :D

Lancer Probes in Borderlands add on- secret armory of general knoxx. When they're 1-2 levels higher than your character its a pain in the god damn ass.

Tanks in Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 - they're strong and when I hear the music of one coming I instantly cry out in pain ready to be thrown from one end of the map to the other :(

Fable II's final boss 'battle' = ****. Seriously, one of the most pathetic endings for a game if I've ever seen one...

Hah, I had joked with my mom (she was watching me play it) that the ending would be exactly that. When it actually happened I was just like, "Really? Heh."

Could have been so much better, although it still had some charm.

Chargers in Left 4 Dead 2, I hate when they always single me out to grab and smash in the wall, just because I'm not one of CPU players, there are 3 other guys to tackle but no it comes straight for me like I got a Charger Magnet on my face...

Oh and the Witch is a B**ch too!
