Rumor: Call of Duty: Black Ops (CoD7), with dedicated servers

Recommended Posts

Call of Duty 7 has allegedly been exposed as Call of Duty: Black Ops. This has been declared by a MYSTERIOUS SOURCE from Activision that recently spilled the beans. According to this MYSTERIOUS SOURCE, Treyarch's upcoming game will take place not only in Vietnam, but at various points throughout history, providing a narrative that spans many times and places.

World War II, the Cold War, Cuba, South America and the famous Iranian embassy siege in London are all rumored to be included in Black Ops.

Even more intriguing is the rumor that this game will bring back dedicated servers are a notoriously unpopular discharge from Modern Warfare 2. Treyarch is also said to be resurrecting World At War's popular zombie mode, because zombies make everything more fun, apparently.

Frankly, this all sounds a bit mental to us, but we felt we'd pass along what everybody's rambling about so you can make your own mind up. An interesting concept if it's true, but I'd take more than a grain of salt with this rumor right now. Maybe pick up the whole shaker.

Not sure I like this. The thing I hated the most in MW2 was that you dont play through the game as the same person. This I loved in Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Looks like the Internet Rumour Spinning Machine is out in full force...

- the multiple location/characters: been there, done that in Modern Warfare 1, World at War and Modern Warfare 2 so that would not be a big surprise in CoD 7 and, frankly, the cold war offers just plenty of opportunities.

- the dedicated servers: the feature everyone has been dreaming about for the last 4 months ... I am sure letters to Santa or the Easter Bunny are sent asking for dedicated servers.

- the zombie mode: why everyone wants to blast zombies these days? It was a fun addition in World at War but that's a secondary feature. That's not the core of the CoD franchise.

Sounds good, might pick it up, if I still care about games by then. I'm losing interest at a rapid rate now.

Interesting.

Looking forward to this as I have with all games in the CoD franchise, hopefully this improves the multiplayer experience. I would however like to see a sequel to MW2 after the cliffhanger though.

I'll never buy another Call of Duty branded title again whilst Treyarch and IW are making it. They're rushed ad just generally bad games. Battlefield is 100% better.

^^ In charge? maybe not, but developing yes.....and I don't mind, I like Treyarch.

I loved WAW, so I'll be buying it.

London embassy siege sounds good.

"dedicated servers" already turns into selective hosts.. just like every rumour that turns into reality.. I think COD:MW1 and 2 were both rumoured to be dedicated.. that didn't happen.

For as much crap as Treyarch received, COD:WAW was a great game just because its COD4 +new skins+vehicles+gore (no real improvements per se). Sure WWII has been milked dry, but the multiplayer component was great just like COD4 (because it's essentially the same game), and I bought it on sale. I might buy this depending on what's changed from MW2. Personally skipped MW2 because they reward too many streaks.. definitely glad I got BF:BC2, especially now that EA/Dice got their server act together.

sounds like it's going to be alright. heck i get every CoD title when it comes out, i'll probably get this one as well unless something drastic happens. WaW wasn't nearly as good as MW2, which is a decent MP experience, i don't know why so many people regurgitate this hate towards it.
