Sn00pY
dudes, just got a 15" MBP (few months old etc... perfect condition etc... blah blah) anyways... I have a few questions I would appreciate it if you could answer them :) (1) I will intend to use it plugged in probably 90% of the time, should I be keeping it plugged in but ensure to "decharge" it fully several times throughout the month? I want to keep the cycles low - would this be right? (2) What is the best way to keep the aluminium clean, is iKlear the best idea? I know it's the only one "supported" what do you chaps use? (3) Should I get AppleCare? if so, why? I've never used extended warranty plans etc... Thanks lads, I'm sure I'll have more but these are just ones I am remembering now :) Thanks! edit; (4) I previously had a 13" MBP for a few weeks (sold upgraded etc to this) and the "lid" on the 15" seems much... flimisier, does that make sense? like it's not as solid sitting - it does not flap about but if I lean the mac forward/back it'll fall down, which I don't ever intend to be doing, but hopefully you understand me? (5) the power button feels quite slack/spongy - I can't remember how my 13" felt - is this normal ?

(5) the power button feels quite slack/spongy - I can't remember how my 13" felt - is this normal ? 1) It's perfectly safe to use it on AC most of the time. I'd probably do a full cycle at least every other month or so. 2) iKlear is the best thing I've ever used. A slightly moist piece of kitchen roll, followed by a dry piece of kitchen roll also works well. Another tip is to keep a microfibre cloth handy ;). 3) Yes, without a doubt. Apple's support is top notch. AppleCare will increase the resale value of the machine and it covers software (especially handy if you're new to Mac). Also, if you plan on keeping it more than a year, remember how expensive things are to replace on these machines (for example, if the screen goes, you have to replace the entire top lid). AppleCare also covers your AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express router (if you have one). 4) The 15" screen is generally looser than the 13" (well, it's heavier, so has a little more play). For comparison, if I open the lid fully, I can put my 15" almost vertical before the lid "falls". 5) All power buttons are different due to the way they're manufactured. Providing it's in line with the case (i.e. it's not protruding or sunk down) it should be fine.
