Synchronize system time

Recommended Posts

To keep your system clock in sync with an online time server, download ntp.

Then extract the file:

tar -zxvf ntp-4.1.1.tar.gz
cd ntp-4.1.1

Then, install ntp:

./configure
make
su -c 'make install'

Then run ntpdate:

ntpdate time.nist.gov

I hope this helps you as much as it helped me!

Or for the gentoo using among us, we can:

emerge ntp

and then:

ntupdate time.nist.gov

I think RedHat 9 has a tool included with this. It asks you too set it up when it installs, so I did and it works very nicely. Thanks redhat :)
