Steve Jobs Has Just Gone Mad

Yeah, I heard about that on Buzz out Loud. They're doing it because they don't want people to develop for different platforms it seems, using the same code. I'm sure their main intention is quality control but they've just caused a lot of trouble especially for small developers. More fun for jailbreakers I guess.

Obviously it's better to develop with just Cocoa Touch. The same APIs for the whole OS.

It's like having C#, C++, C, Objective-C, Carbon, etc. in one OS like OS X. It's not that good to get all this useless diversity.

The iPhone SDK is a total monopoly, but at least it's more than excellent. We don't need anything else.

Exactly. Plus it's his product so he can set whatever rules he wants. If people don't like it, buy another product.

If the iPhone is a "total monopoly" then anti-trust issues apply and they have to open it up you realise...

by apple and steve jobs controlling everything then everyone will move to something better, ever since he returned to work he has gotten worse and so has apple, he should be ashamed of himself for being the control type and you wonder why apple are called apple fail and why steve jobs is called steve the fail. lol

But are Apple and Steve Jobs really a fail? I mean Apple's market capitalization continues to rise, it's stock is rising, it's cash pile is rising and most importantly, it's products continue to sell in large numbers. Can that really be called a fail?

It's one thing to bash Apple for being a monopoly, but calling it fail is incorrect.

That's the way I see it too. It's his ball and his ballpark.

Yeeea. Tell that to everyone invested in the company.

Apple brags about quality so this is how they ensure that.

i still haven''t figured it out..when Microsoft does some of these things that apple has done they get slapped with a antitrust or monopoly lawsuit...when apple does it they don't get anything done to them..what gives? for example the whole browser ballot screen.. Microsoft has to have one in the eu now...yet apple refuses to let anyone develop a browser for their iphone/touch platform..and more recently the whole ban of flash development for their mobile platform.i don't see how some of the things they do cannot be considered a monopoly or antitrust violation.

If Microsoft said all Windows development had to be done with Visual Studio 2010 ...

... and rejected / failed the install of any program compiled from C, C++, Delphi, etc ...

... denied cross-compiled applications ...

How many programs can be compiled from source code to run on Linux AND Windows?... lots.

Everyone would be all over Microsoft for doing that, accusing them of 'monopolistic' behavior.

Pot, kettle... black anyone?
