I'm LOVING the demo. It's an all out fun racing game, which is rare to come across. Play a race with 20 people on the track and things just get outright insane.

Good job amigo.

Not a fan of the game though!

Cheers :)

Shame you don't like it :(

Stopped reading there tbh. ;)

As I've already said on Live and Twitter I'm 50/50 on this at the moment.

Yeah, I do actually agree with you on some points, they need to cut down the amount of power-ups there are on each track and maybe have a system where it automatically reduces the amount in accordance to the amount of players there are. But, it must be said that maybe the tracks in the full game or even these will be changed as I am sure there has been feedback on this sent to Bizarre.

Yup, it is awesome but I do like it when it is a small amount too so it can be less insane sometimes!

I think it should be a xbox arcade/PSN style game, priced like battlefield1943.

Good game, but I can't see myself playing it for long.

I think this is much bigger than any XBLA/PSN game I've seen, sure Wipeout was big that was essentially a remake of older tracks and stuff. I think there is enough content to warrant it to be a full retail game. Remember, you have only played a demo with limited content.

I have pre-ordered this game and look forward to playing the final game.

With more tracks and no level lock thus giving full access to the wide variety of loadout options, I can see it being very addictive. I've played the beta/demo a ton, already. I was crying the other day because I was laughing so hard. Between the action and the comments from the people playing, it was the most fun I've had while gaming in a long time.

Hopefully they do. At the moment in a short strip of the track you can pick up 3 power ups and you find your self spamming them about just so you can make space for more. You can send up firing 3 homing missiles at one person making them drop from 100% health to next to 0%. Can you counter it? Nope. Is it out of your control? Yep.

Is it frustrating? Damn right.

I love the BETA. Played it till I reached level 10 and then I haven't played it since. I will probably buy the full game when its out. Its utterly addictive.

My partner described it as a 'new age Mario kart'. lol, he's pretty right, really good fun fast paced arcade game. My fav type of racing game :)

Well yes you can counter it, and there are strategies you can use to pick up the easy win. However, the way its balanced is made to give everyone a decent chance of a victory no matter where they are in the race. Also, since the pack is rarely split up, there's always something going on. I think it's a good setup.

Sure you can counter it some of the time but there is still a 1/3 chance that you'll be flipping about then as you land on your wheels. Someone will put the boot in and shunt you in to a wall. There needs to be a period where you're immune to damage so you can at least get your car pointing in the right bloody direction! Getting buggered repeatedly till you wreck is no fun. As I said on twitter it's the MW2 of racers. Too much focus on the metagame (MW2's was the lol killstreaks, in Blur it's the power ups) and not enough focus on the core. I can now understand why Bizzare are so upset about developing this game now.

The pack rarely split up? Ask Kick, a majority of the races it consisted of 1-3 people dominating the race taking all the nitros and getting a huge lead then battling among them selfs for the top spots while everyone else is playing Destruction Derby Next Gen at the back! Once you get 2 nitros back to back it's almost impossible to close the gap without getting two your self and if you're struggling in the pack you'll likely be shunted away from the power up you want.

Don't get me wrong, it's not fundamentally flawed ala MW2. It can be fixed, question is will it be fixed in time for release or have Activision already got them working on DLC and Blur 2? :/

  • 2 weeks later...

And the whining begins. I had one guy call us all "a bunch of *******" for using power ups. Someone, obviously, doesn't understand what the game is about.

The thing is: This is one of those games where I don't mind coming in first. I do so, quite often, but even when I don't, I'm having a blast battling it out in the middle of the pack. I've seen some super impressive battles to come in 3rd or 4th. I've had to compliment a few guys over how they managed to overtake me at the last second.

Offline multiplayer with bots? Racing with weapons and powerups?! Hot damn, I need to try this game out ASAP.

Too many great games coming out this year. :pinch:

BTW, I hadn't played a game like this since Rumble Racing :) That was a very fun game.

I'll be honest with you; I haven't had this much fun gaming in a very long time. I'd probably have to go back to when Halo 3 came out and my buddies and I from work would play for hours on end. With Blur, get into a 20 car race and have a few cool people in the room and things become almost hysterical. More than once, I've found myself in tears from laughing so much. I'm gushing, quite obviously, but it's warranted.

I love the demo and forgot this is on my reserve list. Funny thing, I wasnt going to buy it BECAUSE of activisions history with PC games so far, but looking at it, its PRICED $40. YES YOU GOT THAT RIGHT.

I was suprised when I saw it at work for $40. So i reserved it right away incase activision feels its an "error" and charges 60 for the PC copy, reserving it keeps my price at 40 XD.

BUt, definitely picking this up as well as skate 3 in may.

Don't get me wrong the game is fun but it's almost bipolar! You can from having an enjoyable race to getting gang raped and being left at the back with a 4 second gap between you and the next car.

One person in a 20 man race last night got shunted, then barged, then barged and then shunted before being wrecked by 4 individual cars. He couldn't do anything to counteract this beating and to me that's just poor design.

I am super hyped for this game and reading the Bizarre forums shows that they are taking user feedback on board and have in fact been changing a lot of aspects for the final game.

They are thinking of having a game type where the types of power-ups that are placed on the track are random every time so it mixes things up.

It should be like that already tbh.

The power ups won't be placed randomly and won't be random, but the three (it's usually three) that are there will shuffle their order around so it's harder to pick a single line to get all the same powerups.

I think that was a possibility, not sure if they will definitely do it but the Random thing was also an option as you can use matchmaking search if you want that over the original gameplay.

Played it a bit in the beta and its no bad, but no OMFG I MUST OWN. Power ups were a bit lame for my liking and could of been more varied. But as a 20min pick up n play online racer its fun, tho I think i,ll wait till its on offer somewhere.

They listed the final changes between beta and final and that was the path they went with. They felt totally random powerups hurt gameplay and went with a shuffle system, instead.
