bangbang023 Veteran Posted April 21, 2010 Veteran Share Posted April 21, 2010 It does have a whiff of the "Xbox 360 Arcade" game about it, nothing I'd pay retail price for. It's going to have 30 maps and 50 cars complete with way more race modes and a crap load of custom config options. The scope is way larger than an arcade title. soniqstylz
Indy's It-girl Danica Patrick has a role in Activision's Blur, which I didn't know before today, and Danica's giving interviews to highlight the fact gamers now race online "against people in different places," which she didn't know before today either. What's more, "It's not just cars against cars," Patrick told USA Today. "It's cars against cars with the ability to pick up these things called power-ups. They are all kinds of different things - you can protect yourself or fix your car, shoot at other cars, you can blow them up or hit the boost." Wait, "power-ups" ...? In a game in which one races? Sports Illustrated also got some face time with her and asked a ton of questions about actual racing, then did the sports-talk radio thing and practically reminded her to plug the reason for the interview in the first place. SI.com: And one of the other features is a multi-player set-up also?DP: How many times do you see people playing video games and they're waiting for their turn? It's cool because it's not just such a single sport, it's not a single thing. You can do it with people. And you can do it with people in different places, too. Wait, now you're telling us we don't have to wait for our turn when to enjoy a game with friends? Have we at last broken the shackles of singleplayer-only gaming?! In other actual news, Patrick told USA Today that she appears in the game as "a pretty good driver," but didn't specify whether she was playing herself or not. She told SI that she drives a Lotus on a street course called Russian Steps set in San Francisco. She also apparently didn't read Lisa Foiles' advice about how to look like you're playing games before posing for that Activision photo above. http://kotaku.com/5521311/danica-patrick-enlightens-us-on-the-concept-of-power+ups

Austen Boshtin
I actually really like this game. Got the demo last night and spent a good few hours drifting and getting smashed to **** by big red orby things. Also coming in 11th is much more fun than being at the front of the pack. Which takes a bit of the serious edge away from the game. Although you still get the standard online nobbery of "why the **** are you playing this game if you can't drive for ****" etc etc. That aside will definitely be buying this when it's released
.KICK
The reviews are coming in, most are positive so far- Eurogamer - 8/10 Spong - 83% IGN - 7/10 I have to say, it obviously isn't going to suit everyone but not doing too badly so far, more reviews to come obviously. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted May 25, 2010 Veteran Share Posted May 25, 2010 Time to recall that ridiculous ad they've been airing.. But it never quite reconciles the fantastic driving with the antagonism of its power-ups in the way Mario Kart does, and it could have made more of its best ideas, which often lie beyond the bounds of its chaotic races. That's MK strong point, good solid fun. Doesn't matter if the characters look childish or it's full of bright colours.
Spookie
In regards to what I've already said: - Still no grace period. In 20 man races you will go from first to 10th place and below from being chain ****ed. - The game (SP) is brutal. It's hard enough on MP to get to first but with dead eye AI who can bolt you from 50m away. Expect grief getting to 1st place and trying to stay there. - Power ups don't shift positions. So to come first in 20 man races: Sit in 10th, break hard on the first corner taking the inside- everyone will pile up in the corner, nick all of the shields and nitros and sit in first with a comfortable lead! That being said the 10 mans are a great deal of fun. Very enjoyable. :)

I've had TONS of fun with it. Get on a track with 20 people who are even al ittle cool and it's pure mayhem. Right now, I just managed to hit a jump and have an incoming shunt (homing missile thing) pass underneath me. I was so happy since I was in 4th place lol
ViperAFK
Offline multiplayer with bots? Racing with weapons and powerups?! Hot damn, I need to try this game out ASAP. Too many great games coming out this year. :pinch: BTW, I hadn't played a game like this since Rumble Racing :) That was a very fun game. Was that that ps2 game where you could like shoot tornadoes at people? Used to love that game :)

bangbang023 Veteran Posted May 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted May 26, 2010 have you played split second?? if not ill recommend it.. highly.. Played the demo. Wasn't too impressed. No sense of speed and I like the ability to aim my attacks instead of just triggering them. I like Blackrock and loved Pure, but I fear that S/S might have the same lack of replay value that Pure had.
