Hot
I have a current 17" MBP. With the pre-installed Snow Leopard and the 10.6.1 and 10.6.2 updates, it ran like a dream. OS X 10.6.3, however, has completely destabilized it. - Textures randomly go missing on my menu bar (which has not been customized or anything funny). - My mouse will randomly stops clicking, needs to be unplugged and plugged back in. - The machine will randomly not come out of sleep mode, requiring a forced shut down via the power button. Can I somehow remove this rotten update?
njn007
I'd have to take a stab and say no. If you want a better answer you might wanna contact Apple. I've had it and haven't had a problem on my 21.5" iMac. Very interesting. I'd definitely say Apple is the way to go. Even if it isn't under warranty get them to look into it. crazzyyfool
The only way to go back to 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 is to back up you stuff, wipe your hard drive and install again from the DVD then update. Tell us a bit more about your problems with the 10.6.3 update - we maybe able to help. Did you have 10.6.2 already installed and use Software Update to install 10.6.3 or did yo use the Combo Installer? Which mouse do you use? What system hacks do you have installed - if any? Have you repaired permissions? I have updated two household Mac's, iMac and MBP with no problems.

Btw there was a 1.1 update recently which might also address the problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1017
what
You could try doing an Archive and Install, which essentially only re-installs your System folder. You'll go back to the first version you have but all your Home directories and Applications will still be in place. I did this once under Leopard when I cocked around with the iLeopard theme too much.
russellc
If you want to avoid reinstalling, you can always check the Console (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) for errors that might be relevant to your problems.
PNWDweller
Slightly OT but the new one which patched the exploit they released the other day, really messed up on my end. I let it install last night, and then it rebooted to a light blue screen for 20 minutes or longer before I shut it down via the power button. I was able to get in after that, but it really put a panic into me during that time. I haven't seen any instabilities otherwise with the 10.6.3 update. Hot
So just an update: It's actually getting worse. GRR. This morning I woke the machine from sleep mode and applications that were running refused to quit or force quit, while new applications I launched didn't add their icons to the dock. Restarting got it back to normal. :/ Download the combo update and run that - I've never trusted a delta update because I've found it isn't worth taking the risk. Btw there was a 1.1 update recently which might also address the problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1017 That update does not show up in my Software Update, I think it's just for people upgrading to 10.6.3 from 10.6 or 10.6.1? If you want to avoid reinstalling, you can always check the Console (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) for errors that might be relevant to your problems. Thanks for the tip, I can't see anything off the bat but looks like a useful tool and I'll keep an eye on it next time something goes wrong. NEVER do a delta update (which is what you did when you updated). Again, download the combo update, install it over the old update, and then see the difference - worse case scenario would be to drop down into terminal, delete all the contents of your user library directory, reboot and it'll reset all the defaults back to normal. If you want help you will follow my instructions; download and install the combo update.

Elliott
I never had any issues with a Delta Update... Me neither, but this definitely sounds like some sort of corruption issue.
