+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 13, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted April 13, 2010 Leading UK video games retailer GAME has introduced warning stickers on pre-owned copies of games that do not include the DLC those who bought the new version would have found in the box.The move comes following news last month thatGameStop is being sued for being "deceptively misleading" after selling a second-hand copy of EA's Dragon Age: Origins without informing the consumer that the game would not include the DLC access code advertised on the game's packaging. "We have been developing a policy for notifying customers at the point of purchase which was implemented last week in-store," a GAME spokesperson told MCV. "Pre-owned copies of applicable titles have stickers on them saying 'check with staff for availability of downloadable content', giving staff the chance to explain clearly the difference so that our customers understand the benefits of buying both pre-owned and mint." Applicable games include the likes of Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Race Driver: GRID Reloaded, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3. The Teej
Having worked at GAME, I can just imagine the joy of trying to explain the concept of DLC to a 60 year old grandmother who doesn't even know how to turn a computer on when all they want to do is buy a game for their grandson for this birthday. How hard is it to explain "extra content that unlocked in game"?

Un4given
It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people can be. Seriously, if i went and bought a used copy of a game, i wouldnt expect any of the other perks that came in the original packaging. That's the whole reason why they are sold USED. Of course this is the United States of Sue Anything that Moves In the Wrong Direction and Win, so i shouldnt be surprised by now.

Normally I agree, however this is the 1st time game publishers are bundling DLC for the express purpose to get "new" sales, vs used sales where game stores jack the price to be new -$5 msrp. This is new to people. I do beleive in common sense, if they returned to gamestop in a reasonable time to return the game and were not able to get a complete refund, then you should go after them. AdamLC
you've never worked in retail have you? So true! The general public are complete idiots most of the time. You really wouldn't believe how stupid some people can be!

AbandonedTrolley
I agree and think whist stopping and thinking about it for a second would make you realise that the DLC wouldn't be included it is there on the box stating it. As such I think Game are doing a good thing here to help make clear about such things. (Y) Much in the same way I traded Heavy Rain in but kept the Origami piece. Someone may have been installing the game wondering where theirs was lol
