Should I change my MBP

Recommended Posts

Holla !

I've bought an MBP last week. Right before they release those new build.

At the moment, I'm asking my self, I contacted my vendor, and I can change it for free.

So atm, I got:

2.66 Ghz

4Go Ram

320 GB 5200 RPM

Should I get the 2.53 GHz Version? (http://store.apple.com/ca_edu_107893/configure/MC372LL/A?mco=MTc0Njg1ODg)

That was my question, but now, I also consider getting the 2.66 GHZ i7 (http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC373LL/A?mco=MTc0Njg1ODE), but not sure yet.

I would like to know, first of all, should I accept the downgrade from 2.66 GhZ Core 2 Duo to 2.53 i5?

(I know the upgrade from 2.66 Ghz core 2 to 2.66 i7 is a big upgrade. 50%++ performance)

That's not a downgrade... Just because the Core 2 Duo has a slightly higher clock speed doesn't mean it's faster. The i5 will outperform the Core 2 Duo.

Hehe :p

Well 2 question mainly remaining:

1- Is the i5 2.53Ghz a real upgrade to 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo

2- Is the 330M 256 Mo better than the 9600GT 512 ?

1. Processor comparison chart is 1/2 way down. i5 is better. Clock speed isn't everything and does not necessarily mean it is faster.

2. Quick google search, same website came up, even though it is a 256 card, I think it rivals or beats the 9600GT card.

EDIT: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php - They don't have the 330M listed but I'd check back in a day or two, see if they have it then, and compare or just do a bit of research.

Notebookcheck has some info on the GT330M.

Apparently its based off the GT240/230M with 48 pipelines compared to just 32 for the 9600M GT so expect a boost in graphics.

Its been rumoured that the 320M in the MBP 13" (not GT320M) is close to the 9600.
