+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 14, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted April 14, 2010 "A console gamer gives you two seconds. It sucks or it fails and you're either the top or a flop."Cervat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, has told OXM that console gamers 'don't respect development'. Talking at the Crysis 2 premiere in New York, Cervat Yerli illustrated the difference between PC gamers and console gamers with the following example: "I simplified it for our guys by saying there is one difference between the PC gamer and console gamer. I said the single most important difference is a PC gamer forgives you for about a minute. A console gamer gives you two seconds. It sucks or it fails and you're either the top or a flop. They don't respect any value you put into your development, either it works or it doesn't work." He goes on to explain how this pressure has ultimately made Crysis 2 a better game - look out for the full interview on OXM soon. Do you agree with him? Source: www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=18727 More like act like they understand when they don't, rather than anything to do with respect.
WastedJoker
Console gamers are definitely worse than PC gamers. Anyone who disagrees probably owns a Wii.

goji
Crytek has been hammering hard on gamers and games lately. MW 2, Halo series.... are they suffering from LPS?
Lamp0
The only thing you generalize about gamers is that they are petty, whiny and almost never happy. Gaming is pretty sad all together.

Spookie
Interesting opinion indeed. It's true. I can tolerate the VOIP in L4D2 on the PC but Jesus H Christ. Everyone gets muted when I go on live. I think most PC users have had long enough for the acting like a pillock online to grow old.

Alladaskill17
Gamers are gamers, console and PC alike, people unaware of the process. I'll state that in my opinion console might be a bit worse, largely because (dont bash me or give me stats - its true to an extent) console gamers age average (or maturity level) is probably younger then PC average(s). So they b**ch and are likely more out of the loop then PC counterparts. All just my opinion so don't bash me! ;)
Sethos
Consoles are easy to set up, low maintenance and extremely easy to use when it comes to playing online, using voice communication etc. thus you also create a breeding ground for the worst kind of gamers possible. Not only do you attract the nuisances, you also turn mature players into raving lunatics at times. So he's definitely right about that but perhaps he needs to stop crapping where he's eating at the moment, maybe they should stop commenting on their consumer-segment and everyone around them and perhaps focus on making a decent game? dead.cell
People who act like rude, arrogant jackasses will always be just that. Doesn't matter whether they own a console, PC, or whatever. Many people are so quick to put themselves in a group of people and claim to be superior or intelligent with the choices they've made. They're also quick to crap on everyone else who may have a problem with a product that they didn't purchase. What nonsense... Anyway, when it comes to console games with that $60 price tag, I feel it's even more important make sure it's something I want. Sure, maybe it's only $10 more, but I'm not made of money... I own a quad core 8gb system with high end video card, PS3, 360, and Wii. I have a blast with each system, and feel each has it's own strength's / weaknesses. It's not about superiority, it's fact; a gaming system will run you a lot more than a console - Not to mention everything you have to buy as accessories and the know-how of PCs. Already there you cut away a large part of the immature player segment that tends to plague consoles. Nobody is claiming PC players are flawless, there's still the problem with immature players and annoying elements but I feel as they are a rarity and when you start to play niche games or realistic games you have almost completed removed all of the immature elements as user moderation also kicks in. It's not about calling all console players annoying / immature / whatever, it's about a huge group of annoying players who ruin it for everyone else and brings it down to a completely unbearable level, especially the overall reputation is shot to hell. So you can eliminate a lot of the immaturity by having high running costs and a higher required know-how on operating certain technical aspects, although not completely.
