About the game

The SKATE™ franchise is back and rolling into new territory as SKATE™ 3 heads to the brand new city of Port Carverton. Delivering a unique co-op skateboarding experience, build your own customized skate team and change the face of the city by taking on unique team challenges, competing against rival crews online, and shredding the streets of an all-new skaters’ paradise. SKATE™ 3 - Team Up. Throw Down.

The game is no longer a open world game. Instead it will consist of 3 individual tighter spots. The spots are:

Quote from Cuz:

To glean some insight into the larger game, I spoke with producer Chris Parry (more commonly known as Cuz) about a variety of topics. First, I grilled him about the all-new setting of Port Carverton, which represents the series' first foray out of the original city of San Vanelona. In the past, players have been presented with a single contiguous open world in which to skate, while Port Carverton is broken up into three discrete regions. Though in a technical sense this may seem like a step backward, Mr. Parry pointed out that it liberates the level designers. In the construction of San Van, having everything connected constrained the design to being essentially one big hill that would always dump players off in one of a couple of basins near the bottom.

Other improvements consist of:

  • Improved hall of meat - No longer open world challenges instead spots generated with specific goals.
  • Full skate park editor - No like the TH franchise, you can move items in to each other to create your perfect hubba.
  • Improved online free skate - More challenges, less frustration.
  • Improved graphics editor - Create your own team clothes, boards and banners.
  • Three difficulty modes - Easy, Normal, Hardcore. Hardcore introduces real world physics, you won't be able to pop so high and tricks will carry less momentum.

I've got the demo and quite honestly it's looking pretty damn good. The option to spawn a large amount of objects where-ever you damn well please is awesome, this coupled with the new tricks and the fact that he now slams like i do in real life makes this a definite one to go on my wish list.

Plus Jason Lee as Coach Frank... classic!

Probably won't be better than Tony Hawks' latest.

You be trollin' bro!

Lush, reading the first impressions and apparently the cavemen who handled like tanks and fell like crash dummies are now fixed. No more immersion breaking animations! That and we all get the advanced camera system for free along with all the online features. I guess we'll be starting a neowin team then?

Nice to see this looks like a true sequel where-as Skate 2, as DM mentioned on twitter, felt like Skate 1.5.

Don't operate in UK :(

Can someone help me find the demo for PS3?

Just click latest and it's right there.

There's even an advertisement banner for it in the rotation on the main store page.

Unless you're from America, the American store updates a few hours after the UK.

The demo is awesome, I'll definitely be picking this up, lol @ Tony Hawk

I think it updates in around 40 minutes for USA/Canada, 9pm GMT time.

If not, it's around 5pm your time, as it updates at around 5pm UK time.
