How activate mp3 encoding in RC1?

Recommended Posts

if u just mean how to encode mp3's at all, then u just go into options 'cd copy' or 'encode' or whatever in Media Player.

If, however, u mean how do u encode at decent bitrates (i.e 128,192kps etc.), then u will have to edit the registry.

Fortunately NeoWin supplies u with a reg file which u just have to d/l and double click.

go here

https://www.neowin.net/windows/xp/index.shtml

and d/l the 'XPMP8HB.REG' file then double click it and restart XP

(loging off might be enuff, but i doubt it)

then u should be able to encode at higher bitrates.

tbh thou

I think that the WM8 codec has better bass reproduction, and in general a 'bigger' sound than ANY MP3 codec anyway (including LAME), so I use WMA anywayz.

I wonder if there is a way to "inject" the mp3 encoder that was in previous builds of XP into later builds so to enable mp3 encoding?
