Navicat MySQL Registration?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

So I'm doing a bit of work for a company, who use Navicat MySQL. They want to continue using Navicat, as it gets the job done, and so I've agreed to help them with some back-end stuff and looping it in with the front-end.

I've downloaded Navicat for Mac, and tried using their registration code that they use at the company, only to find it doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem? Should I contact Navicat and explain the situation?

Please note, the work I do is legitimate, and I'm not looking for a "workaround" solution. I'm simply wondering if anyone has encountered this cross-platforming problem before, and if so, how they resolved it. I don't see much point in me buying the software for myself when I'm only using it for this one company, and for a 3 month period.

Also, has anyone used Navicat Lite? I read that the only difference is the ability to port to Excel spreadsheets?

Thanks,

Medking

Well, Navicat Lite is supposed to be for non-commercial use only, so using it for this company would likely be a license agreement violation. I'd contact Navicat - as with any business, they want people to keep buying stuff from them, so I'd imagine they'd try to help you out in some way, shape, or form.

Thanks for the reply,

Yea I saw it's for non-commercial use, which poses an immediate problem.

I'm going to talk to them and see what they say. I find it a bit ridiculous that you'd have different serials for different platforms... Completely defeats the ability to cross-platform.

I'll see what I can do,

PS. If anyone else has any other suggestions, please share! I could use an alternative system, although I don't have access to some of the root files used for the website, hence I can't port all of the files over, I'd have to wait for someone who's 12 hours time difference to do that, and it gets complicated.
