404
Sorry if someone have asked this before, or if someone have asked this, could someone point me to a link? What antivirus is good (no antivirus is best, but hey, you gotta keep your puter out of virus right?) for win xp. I have NortonAV 2001, is this still good for Win XP? What AntiVirus do you guys use? -- why not using NAV 2002? -- i have this 'subscription error' that says: = Subscription service Not Installed = I don't know what cause the problem so it keeps buggin me with pop ups. Thanks!
cub-x
Well, I'm running NAV Corporate here.. No big huge fancy GUI, but hey, it works and keeps up with the latest virus-def's... Also, in my experience, McAfee didn't do the job or screwed up my system. I don't trust these guys anymore. They had a great name back in the 80's (:)) but I think they lost the whole issue in this area.
sunnyy4
I'd say that you should upgrade to Norton Antivirus (NAV) 2002. NAV 2001 requires a update patch of some sort. If you don't want to shell out ~$39.95, then I'd suggest reinstalling your software...
AaronXP
sunnyy4, he said that he already has tried NAV 2002 as stated in his first post: -- why not using NAV 2002? -- i have this 'subscription error' that says: = Subscription service Not Installed = So he can't use it. 404, try NAV Corporate Edition 7.61, its WinXP compatible and there's been no probs with it so far. NWCT
I read that if you want the best Virus Protection on PC World Mag. they did a test of several virus proggies. Panda 6.XX came out on top where as Norton missed i think 3 viruses, Norton was the only one close to Panda. I tried Panda 6.xx on XP Pro it seems to run a little slow though. Sorry i must had del. the link for the review ;-( but it was on PCWorld website.
kirk26
If you want the best, pick McAfee. Norton is second best.

But now adays with firewall and anitvirus stuff i make sure its the two first things i install and then my network stuff cause i have noticed that in XP things are still in consistent. Large
Well I bought Nav 2002, when I upgraded to XP in October because at the time I was using E-Trust Antivirus and that didn't support XP. I've used Mcaffee on various machines and I'm not impressed at all, but thats just my opinion. But ever since buying Nav 2002 its worked on my XP installation everytime with no probs, but . . . but I do know that installing and unistalling time and time again in a row won't help, you machine will seriously get confused, I did have an installation prob once with Nav 2002 but I had to reinstall XP and put Nav 2002 back on and this cured the problem. Consult with Symantec about your questions on the website I did and got a reply with 48 hours like they promise. Hope this info helps. The Large :)
404
YEAH! I've just fixed my own problem. NAV 2002 won't show anymore error about 'Subscription Service Not Installed'. Just a little help from little tool, RNAV from Symantec's website. I guess i can use my NAV 2002 again now  Thanks for your feedbacks guys! PS: i'm also looking forward for NAV Corp ed. ;)
