My IDENT 113 port is not stealth!

Recommended Posts

My Linksys router has a built-in firewall, and I'm using ZAP, too. Then why is that port not stealth but only closed? Does anyone know why? I'm trying to find out, but I don't get to see why it's not in stealth mode anymore.

mine i think was stealth.. maybe cuz you opened it or you're using uPnP software that opened that port... see it's good to know what you put on your machine. It should be stealth tho where did you check...

By default Linksys routers don't drop probes to port 113 because of possible timeouts to email and chat clients. It is not a major security concern to have your system report that port 113 is closed rather than drop it altogether.

If you really want it to be stealthed, forward port 113 to your pc where your firewall will stealth it.

Port 113 is not the worst thing to have open. If you auto poll email then you will need it open, some IRC Chat programs require it and I believe Kazaa needs it open.

Create a phony IP on the inside and and map port 113 to that IP.
