+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 19, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted April 19, 2010 The rumors just won't stop for Ubisoft and Splinter Cell: Conviction. After two resume listings saying Conviction would come to PlayStation 3, now even the Ubisoft support site is listing the game for the Sony console. As this was sent in, I went ahead and double-checked the other sections such as Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii to make sure there weren't any game listings for either platform that weren't announced. We're good on that end. Even though this may just be a support site listing, it just adds more fuel to the fire for Splinter Cell: Conviction on PlayStation 3. Hell, GamesRadar has even nailed down a future release date. Thanks, Giovanni! Jimmy0
I'm not sure I'll even get it if it does come over, not after how ridiculously short it is.
bob_c_b
Let's for now assume this is true, am I the only one who finds MS constant braying about this being a 360 exclusive a bit sleazy? It was one thing with the GTA DLC, at least it was just DLC and not a full game. Exclusives are used to sell hardware and for many people force a choice since the vast majority won't own both consoles. Advertising false exclusives is at the very least, disingenuous.... and at worst fraud. I could say it doesn't directly impact me since I own the PS3 and 360, but it does give me pause whenever I hear "exclusive" from a third party title on the 360 again. I think we've come to realize "exclusive" from a 3rd party usually means timed. I don't believe Splinter Cell had one of those "Only on 360" stickers, neither did GTA (I don't think), so it's not really false exclusives... just timed. Although the casual gamers know no better, which is why using the term 'exclusive' even if it is timed is slightly sneaky marketing. It would be much better if they just said timed, but I guess that would look bad to the internet gaming crowd as accusations of pay offs would be in full swing. Better to say timed exclusive than have the developers 6 months later say "oh hai guyz we finally worked out how to code for PS3, port in a month". IMO the worse thing is the developers/publishers denying the game is in development for another platform, they should either offer no comment or keep their yappers shut, when they start denying it then release it 6 months later it makes them look like a bunch of pillocks, not MS. Hedon
Let's for now assume this is true, am I the only one who finds MS constant braying about this being a 360 exclusive a bit sleazy? Nah, they all do it. I don't believe Splinter Cell had one of those "Only on 360" stickers Probably because it's on PC too. Of course this game is coming to PS3, why wouldn't it? It's an awesome game.
bob_c_b
Of course this game is coming to PS3, why wouldn't it? It's an awesome game. So all awesome games are multi-platform now? And how about the part where since E3 MS has been calling this game and Alan Wake 360 exclusives? I think we've come to realize "exclusive" from a 3rd party usually means timed. I think this is generally true, but when MS specifically names a title as an exclusive should it not mean something?

I think this is generally true, but when MS specifically names a title as an exclusive should it not mean something? Spoiler alert, SC has been kind of a hit or miss for me. The game is awesome but for some reason after my first two and a half hour play session, I haven't wanted to pick up the game since. I'll eventually get back to it once school calms down a bit but its just weird that a game of this caliber isn't pulling me back into as much as one would think. Hedon
So all awesome games are multi-platform now? I never said that. I think all awesome games should be multiplatform. And how about the part where since E3 MS has been calling this game and Alan Wake 360 exclusives? How about it? It's no different than Bioshock being timed exclusive to the 360, or Assassins Creed being exclusive to PS3 then not. They are 3rd party developers that need as much money as they can get because of high development costs. PS3 and 360 will get timed exclusive content in order to draw consumers to their respective consoles. Why question me, it's not my idea. I think this is generally true, but when MS specifically names a title as an exclusive should it not mean something? Apparently 3rd party exclusives end up being timed exclusives. Exclusive, timed or not, means nothing to me. If I could play Heavy Rain on my 360 or Alan Wake on my PS3 wouldn't make a **** bit of difference to me. I have no investment in MS or Sony, and could give two flips.
