OS X Mail

Recommended Posts

So I just added my Gmail account to Mail on OS X. Only issue is, when I delete stuff, it is deleting stuff on the server side. Like go into Gmail on the web, and take notice that stuff is deleted. How do I stop it from doing this?

I am not certain as to how to fix it however, I know why it is happening, It is set to Sync mode rather than to just pull it in and store it, Most Gmail connection tools are like this. Making your email match no matter where you are or what method you are using to access your mail.

Are you using IMAP to connect to Mail? If you are, than IMAP will sync between client and server. If you are using POP3, than this won't happen.

How do I find this out?

IMAP doesn't for me. If I delete something in a folder via Mail, then go the Gmail web interface, I find the deleted stuff is still there.

What I have setup already is. Email coming to my desktop via Outlook, then Blackberry. I cant delete messages on either my desktop or blackberry and find it on the server at gmail.com. However, for some reason when I am deleting it out of Mail, it deletes it from the server.
