joshdavis
What's a good backup programme? I want to backup all my data (winxp+mydocs+programfiles) and settings. I've tried the backup programme that came with WinXP, but it doesn't seem to compress anything. I have a HD of only 4 gig, which has 1,5 gig free space. Best thing would be, that I get a backup programme that makes a file that fits on one cdrom. Is this possible?
fr33k
you can get more hard drive space back by unchecking the hibernation option, and turning off system restore
Malechai Veteran Posted December 27, 2001 Veteran Share Posted December 27, 2001 you could use Norton Ghost and backup your entire HD into one file?
Typh0n
I use NTI CD Backup Deluxe. It works great for backing up to a CD-RW. I don't back up my entire system, but I use it to backup my documents, favorites, etc. It even has a scheduler so you can set it to run once or twice a week. It will compress about 1 gig to fit onto 1 CD. Go to http://www.ntibackupnow.com for a demo. Typh0n
treebeard68
I like Drive Image from Powerquest. It does a fantastic job. It compresses the image and spans across multiple cd-r/rw flawlessly if needed. And it backs up everything. Every program, tweak, email, personal documents, everything EXACTLY like the hard drive you are copying. It is basically making an exact duplicate of your hard drive. I haveused it for over a year now. And the best part is, if you truly trash your system, you no longer have to go through that all day format and re-install of everything. It will restore the image in about 15 minutes.
