Sub
Well, first off. Most Broadband companys look for the hardware MAC address. Since you first signed up with Broadband with the Network card in your PC, thier servers only know about the MAC address in your computer. There are 2 ways to solve this: 1. Call your cable company and tell them you need to change the MAC address on your account cause you upgraded your network card. You have to say this becasue mose cable companys dont want home routers and will charge you extra if they find out you have more then one computer connected. 1a. To find out the MAC adress of your router port, go to the Web configuration on the router. The default is http://192.168.1.1 and the default username and password is admin. Once you are logged in you need to find something like this WAN IP Address: (MAC Address: 00-1B-B5-B9-B9-3B). Give them YOUR Mac address and it should work. SECOND WAY, MUCH EASIER.: Log into your router (default: http://192.168.1.1 and go to the ADVANCED TAB. Next you need to click on the MAC ADDR. CLONE tab. Once you are here, you need to type in the MAC ADDRESS of the NETWORK card in your computer. To do this go to Start, Run and type CMD. Next type ipconfig /all and look for the MAC ADDRESS like the example above. Once you find it, enter the number into the Router to CLONE your network card in the computer. Click apply and everything should work. If you dont have a MAC ADDR. CLONE tab in the advanced section, you need to upgrade your Routers BIOS by going to www.linksys.com. Hope this helps.
