i don't get how so many of you care so much about a video game company signing with a publisher. this is completely different from the IW and Activision fiasco deal. Activision owned IW and (arguably at this point) the CoD IP.

From what i am reading Bungie is going to own all it's IP and activison is just going to publish them, similar to what EA does with it's partners program.

90%+ of the GH people need to relax and find a girl/hobby that's real and has nothing to do with anything virtual...

Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new IP on “multiple platforms and devices”.Bungie remains independent and will own the IP.“We chose to partner with Activision on our next IP because of their global reach, multi-platform experience and marketing expertise,” said Harold Ryan, Bungie president.

you guys are drama queens

does anybody know if MS bought the Marathon rights from Bungie too?

cause I wonder what impact this deal will have on a future Halo 4. Assuming the next halo is set in the marathon universe, how would that happen exactly if Bungie still owns the rights to Marathon. Now that would be a titanic legal battle, MS vs Activision.

Activision has nothing to do with Bungie except for this "new" IP.

Microsoft Studio 343 is taking over Halo after reach. Now everyone has said it, and im gonna say it too, once Bungie drops Halo, Halos done.

Reach is obviously the last halo, look at HOW MUCH DEDICATION there putting into it. Its amazing.

I am looking forward to this new IP failing, so Bungie, im sorry to do this but

"I'm sorry Bungie, but Halo was the best IP you guys ever had, EVER HAD!" - This is because since they signed a 10 yr contract, ill forget about them.

Im not spending any money on activision besides Starcraft. **** even SC:C was $60 and Ubis broken DRM. a double bitch slap.

I was under the impression the deal was for all work they did outside of Halo over the 10 year period, not just 1 ip. IF they wanted to do a marathon game and still own the rights that's fine for them i'm sure. If the next halo with MC in it that going off the ending of Halo 3 is possibly set in the Marathon universe, how would bungie and MS manage that without ****ing off Activision.

Bungie may discuss possibility on developing other Acti titles

Bungie doing a future Modern Warfare title? Don?t quite rule it out just yet.Bungie?s Brian Jarrard has told UGO that it?s open to discussions on the off-chance that it may develop titles for other Activision IP, but insists the studio?s announced partnership with the firm yesterday over its new IP is the main focus.?It?s a discussion that might come up,? the developer?s community boss told the site, ?but they partnered with us specifically based on the vision that we have, and the universe and games that we want to bring to the world in the next decade.?Who?s to know if there are other discussions where we have chances to work together in other areas, but that wasn?t one of the core talking points in making this deal.?Analyst Arvind Bhatia has already said Bungie would be a ?very good fit? to replace Infinity Ward as a potential developer of future Modern Warfare titles.Multiplayer would be off the shizzle, innit.

Would be quite ironic if Bungie ended up developing a Future Warfare CoD. Considering IW threw their toys out of the pram over it. :p

Bungie themselves never considered halo dead. they always said that Halo 3 was only the end of the Halo story arc. But the Halo universe still has a LOT of things happenign even after the halo arc, and even before.

As for Marathon. Microsoft owned Bungie 100%, everything that was Bungie became MS. When MS split Bungie from MS again, keeping a minority share(still close to half I believe) Bungie left pretty much only with a contract to do Reach and some ideas and concept art for a new unnamed IP.

So MS pretty much owns Marathon unless they gave it back. I dunno why it would matter though, Marathon is ****. and it's pretty much a Halo prequel anyway, only crap.

I didn't realize it was against the forum rules to express concern for a development studio that I respect. My mistake.

this is what I am talking about, everything is over the top. I said nothing about forum rules or expressing your views. But it's all big fuss over nothing. in a couple of years when bungie releases it's new ip everyone will have forgotten about this.

HAHAHAHA...

What a load of nonsense.
