Jikosan
The BEFW11S4 is a 802.11b router. It only supports 802.11b wireless cards, therefore wireless speeds are limited to 11mbps. The WRT54G is a 802.11g router, supporting both 802.11b and 802.11g wireless cards, with speeds of up to 54mbps for the g wireless sytems.
cjbeckwith
Looks like the BEFW11S4 is only 802.11b, whereas the WRT54G is both 802.11b and g capable. 802.11g is capable of 54Mbps where b is limited to a max of 11Mbps. BEFW11S4 lists a max of 32 users, I am not sure of the limitation on the WRT54G. Hope this helps.
Steven
Don't get a BEFW11S4 Version 4. Version 2 or Version 3. if you decide on it, Version 4 is crap.

eaglebtc
Enlightenment! :Dhttp://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,706...ip,16~mode=flat Oh my, that is quite a lot of "enlightenment!" Sounds like the linksys router really is a piece of ****. I'm looking @ the Netgear FM114P, quite expensive, but sounds really good. Anyone use this, or know of another router with excellent range and reliability? I run a cable modem 24/7, so I just need a router that can transmit at least 100 feet and not do what the Linksys does.

liar2
I'd advise getting a d-link or netgear. I have been very unimpressed with the new linksys products, myself.
eaglebtc
I just bought the d-link 714p. Very nice; advanced firewall configuration, builtin print server, lots of security features, etc... and it only cost me $86 bux after taxes. Shipping was free :-D Found on Googlegear.com . Jikosan
I originally got a Netgear MR314 a year ago, but later sold it and replaced it with the BEFW11S4 V.2 in October... I had gotten much better range and my connection was more stable with the Linksys than with the Netgear... the Netgear would constantly drop me off the Internet... haven't had a problem with the Linksys so far.
