Website help.

Question

I recently endeavoured on a website project for my own personal blog and CV etc as i have seen a few of them lately and they are a really nice idea.

I also have a project to do in college using Web expression 2.

I have watched video tutorials but most tutorials revolve around using templates or building a specific website from scratch which is no use to me, so does anyone know where or have any good tutorials or resources to help me out?

Also, Some tips on structuring and formatting a website in expression as it seems to be a pain in the ass to add layers later on (messes up my previous layer locations).

The things I want in my website include a JavaScript drop down menu.

A text box which I can easily update and archives automatically.

A login area.

And a forum.

If someone could help me out with this (I've designed all of the images and whatever myself)

- Cameron

P.s Help will not go unrewarded.

It doesn't really matter which program will you be using for the project. Mainly because at some point you'll have to do some hand-coding. So, stop by W3Schools which is a great source to start learning (X)HTML and CSS.

After that, with basic site and layout done, you will be able to create login, forum,... For this you'll need a server-side programming language like PHP or ASP and corresponding database (MySQL for example). This part is a bit harder to get used to and it will require quite a lot of hand-coding. Of course, you can always use or adapt scripts that are already done.

Also, it's good to have a local server set up so you don't need to constantly upload files to a remote host (aka. hosting). If you don't have knowledge about this WAMP or XAMPP is a place to start.
