At the end of the day you have -no- idea who's voting for what so voting "tactically" is about as practical as trying to find a needle in a haystack... with a blindfold on. I decided to directly compare Lib Dems and Tories, I was left wondering who had plagiarised who. :s I think that's a failing generalisation. I know a lot of my peers (20-30 yrs) who would vote Tory. Vote for lib dems and you're voting all illegal immigrants the right to stay in this country. I'll admit that Nick Clegg is a charismatic inspiring individual, but that still doesn't change the fact his parties policies suck. From what I see, the young are tending towards lib dem just because they haven't lived through one of their governments before, not because they support the parties policies. In reference to the poll - I'm voting Conservative. I know of plenty of older people (pensioners) voting Liberal Democrats. From talking to them it appears to be *because* they lived through previous Tory and Labour governments. I voted conservative but I really want Lib Dems to win. I only voted them because they have more chance at winning than Lib Dems. I don't want Labour to win again. You don't get any prizes for voting for the party that wins. multimediatechy Posted May 7, 2010 Share Posted May 7, 2010 Being scottish I turned up to vote Labour because I wanted to keep the tories out (nothing to do with a swing from SNP as I would vote them for local elections etc) - at least they don't just get to waltz right into no. 10 like they thought they would...us in Scotland don't want conservatives (They are so marginal here) ...If cameron is in at least I didn't vote for him if he makes a mess of it. The conservatives will make poor people worse off which is a bad thing for Britian of the 21st century.....even if i was a multi-millionaire I would not vote tory. Jaqui Smith lost her seat, ohh dear we don't think she should charge the tax payer for porno and bath plugs. 302 seats to Conservatives, I think they will get to 311, then the 56 or 57 from Lib Dems will make sure Labour do not run Britain into the ground for many years. The trouble is the first past the post system punishes you for not voting tactically and your vote just gets wasted, the supplementary vote would fix this problem. I support the LibDems. I'd be wholly happy if they traded to the Conservatives full whip and all if the Conservatives would just agree to make the next election fully PR. Hung parliaments are the norm in Europe. Why is it so 'traumatic' in the UK? PR will express the will of the people more fully.
