The Force Unleashed II Details Emerging?

Details for the The Force Unleashed II have started popping up on the internet via the French gaming magazine, Consoles. Our first inclination is to exlaim that these are simply rumors until we hear an official announcement. Then again, it never hurts to try to contact LucasArts to see what can, or can not, be confirmed. The good folks at LucasArts got back to us quickly and while they didn't give firm confirmation of any specific facts, the response we got was rather positive I think...

"the full scoop can be learned in this month?s Gamepro magazine as well as other gaming mags in Europe. We?ll let those articles speak for themselves."

Well then, it looks like the info coming out of the publication may not be rumorific after all. At this point you're most likely wanting me to get to the point, so let's set out what we know based on source articles and translations from EUCantina.net and VGChartz.com:

THIS IS YOUR SPOILER WARNING! PROCEED TO THE CLIFF NOTES BELOW AT YOUR OWN RISK!

- Starkiller is a clone this go 'round with selective memories of who he used to be

- Starkiller inlists the help of General Kota to search for Juno Eclipse

- The planets of Cato Nemoidia and Kamino will be featured

- TFU II will be compatible with PlayStation Move

- The TFU sequel may include less emenies to combat than its successor, while those whom you do come across will be more powerful with better coordinated attacks

- Multiplayer!!! Doesn't look like multiplayer will be just for specific consoles with TFU II

Scans from Consoles can be viewed here at Les Troiles Heroiques.

Wow, cant wait for this, I thought the first one was pretty sweet this could be better, I hope the fit pilot returns for this!

There are a bunch of things they need to sort out for the second one.

I don't like the sound of Less enemies but more powerful ones, the first game was an enjoyable experience, but as nice as it was having new force powers and then upgrading them, what was the point if by half way through most if not all the enemies would be immune to them, so it always ended up being a Lightsabre battle, which is fine, but the Lightsabre in The Force Unleashed were about as powerful as a foam sword.

They need to take some bits and bobs from the recent Action-Adventure genre type games like God of War 3, Dante's Inferno etc., I remember a lot of times being stuck in an attack by an enemy and having to wait for it to finish before I could actually dodge or run away, and that goes for attacking myself too.

None of those suggest it's going to fix the problems with the first one :/ Multiplayer would be welcome I guess, but it would have to be exceptionally good to pull people away from the top online games atm.

I get the feeling the Force unleashed will evolve like the Jedi Knight series. I would expect more after the second one is released. All i hope is that they nail the story right and it links in with the tranisitions between movie ->1st Game -> 2nd Game ..... 3rd ... -> Movie. Hope Juno Eclipse makes a return. Judging by the magizine scan I guess she may however unable to say without getting a proper translation of the text.

I agree, I was actually just replaying #1 yesterday and remembered how later on i nthe game, standard troopers had these stupid bubble shields where I could not use any force powers on. I understand having your character be unable to use force powers, on another force user, but standard troopers? They shuoldnt be immune.

Yea, for a game called "The Force Unleashed" they sure liked to make Force powers useless sometimes, lol.

Wait, what?

I think the Wii version of The Force Unleashed had a 2 player fighting mode or something.

I think I'm in the minority of people who loved the first (admittedly am not a hardcore gamer)...

I don't know if I would say I loved it, but the first was still definitely quite enjoyable. Short by even my standards and at times your character felt a bit weak for being portrayed as so powerful, but it was the first real Star Wars game to give you that run and gun feel of a Jedi Knight.

  • 2 months later...

The first one was a bit underwhelming. On PC, it was an utter failure. I've never played such a bad port in my life. The game took up ~30 GB of space when installed. Compare that to GTA IV's 15 GB. I imagine the PC version for this one would be just as poor.
