PreKe
In your world the only genre of games that would exist are those that hit number 1. No, but that's not what the discussion is all about. This discussion is about how LBP was presented as a "role model", or whatever I should be calling it.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted May 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted May 8, 2010 No, but that's not what the discussion is all about. This discussion is about how LBP was presented as a "role model", or whatever I should be calling it. For user generated content on consoles it definitely is a role model. A role model doesn't mean number 1 in sales, so all you did was **** up this topic with your stupid comparisons.

Emn1ty
If it's going to be used as a benchmark for future games, it better sell insanely well. Role model =/= benchmark nor does it have ANYTHING to do with sales. Please give me an argument as to why sales matter at all. Until then, this argument is completely and utterly wrong. Apparently the UGC didn't help propel it to the top of the sales charts, so why are they chasing UGC? It helped it sell millions of copies. Just cause it isn't at the top doesn't mean UGC hasn't helped other games (Halo, Half Life, Left 4 Dead, Far Cry, Far Cry 2, Crysis, Unreal, etc.) I didn't. It is you who are unable to understand what I'm saying. This reply makes absolutely no sense. I ask you what the point is in bringing up sales and you tell me I don't understand you? There's a difference between having a mod community in addition to a solid game, and having the customer make the content as one of the primary goals of the game. The primary goal of most Valve games is extreme support for the mod community. Same with Unreal, which is why they provide the SDK and editors for FREE. BOTH Far Cry games had immensely powerful level design tools built into the game as well as mod community support. Halo has Forge and Theater as well as a fairly big mod community for the Halo 2 PC and Halo PC games. No, the comparison is sound. It isn't my fault that you don't understand it. If it doesn't make sense, it is up to YOU to make me understand it. This is egotistical bull if you think you're too good to explain yourself. And if that truly is the case, then you should have absolutely no motive for discussing this. Discussions themselves warrant explanation, and if you won't explain then you have no reason discussing. Bhav
Is it me or is GH becoming infested with trolls again? :/ Infested by one troll in particular I think.

bjoswald
Well, look at the facts: 1) Stable platform 2) Better hardware 3) Better reliability The 360 is a good console, but it's really showing its age and the "damage reports" floating around confirms it. Unless Microsoft can whip up a new "Slim" model with updated hardware and a slashed price, I think developers are going to move onto bigger, and better things.
