aexphoric
I'm thinking of registering a domain but having great trouble finding or choosing even which registrar to go with. I've looked at GoDaddy and it seems more pricey compared to http://www.lcn.com and http://www.grabadotcom.com. Quite confused to be honest. Can anyone give me their recommendations or experiences? Living in the UK if that makes any difference, thanks. :)
Mr Bridger
I use http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ and have never had any problems. They also seem quite cheap.
Colin-uk Veteran Posted May 9, 2010 Veteran Share Posted May 9, 2010 I use namecheap, good uncluttered interface, and they have money off coupons every month for new registrations and renewals etc.

Hot
I used name.com for my last domain, went from checking availability to having an account and owning the domain in like a minute, with free private registration. Screw GoDaddy.

+InsaneNutter MVC Posted May 9, 2010 MVC Share Posted May 9, 2010 I use namecheap, good uncluttered interface, and they have money off coupons every month for new registrations and renewals etc. Same here, works out around £6 a year for a .com at the moment. You also get a free who is guard with namecheap, this basically stops people doing a whois on your domain and finding out your address / phone number. teddysnook
If you were think of buying a domain name, price is one part of the purchase, but sometimes is not about been the cheapnest domain name. It's the customer service, do you have to talk to call centre, do you pay more for the phone call, can the person on the other end of the phone speak English, not American English, British English... I have domain names with 123reg, Names Co, LCN, GoDaddy, Easily, but the company I like best is Domaincheck. Domaincheck are not the cheapest domain registration company, but you call and within three rings I get to talk to member of staff. I have a problem and I have first line support guy to talk too and I know their names. They use Plesk control panel which is easy and great to use. I would highly recommend Domaincheck because they love of my business.

+BudMan MVC Posted July 26, 2012 MVC Share Posted July 26, 2012 " but you call and within three rings I get to talk to member of staff." " and I know their names" Why in the world should you have to CALL? click this is the domain I want, click this NS to point it too. Click this is my payment. Your interaction with a registrar should pretty much consist of these things. That site is a hosting company as well - do you call them about your hosting, or your domains? I have had domains registered for 10 years, I have yet to ever have a need to actually talk to anyone at the registrar.
