I thought the comparison was interesting. Just Cause 2 seems huge to me. I'm surprised they don't include GTA4

+1.

I thought the developers were mad? I loved this game, but the world was a LITTLE BIT too big. At least they did put planes, a jet pack, a train, etc. so that we could travel fast.

I?ll leave you guys with a popular proverb? ?It?s not the size of a hammer that counts. It?s how you wield it!"

Wow. How do developers create such large world lol!?

By building a weak physics engine and rushing the story xD (just cause!!!)

Holy crap, look at Just Cause 2. And I remember playing GTA:SA and thinking the map was too big. I'd love to see Borderlands included in this aswell.

GTA 4 was confirmed to be a smaller map than San Andreas in the original previews for the game several years ago. Would be kind of pointless putting it on that diagram.

Those photos are not to scale at all. Especially Burnout Paradise, look at the size of the roads and objects compared to the supposedly smaller maps. There is no way that's a bigger game world than Oblivion or World of Warcraft (speaking of which just where is Northrend and Outland by the way). Terrible terrible comparison.

You guys think there's such a thing as too big? (Frat boy jokes aside..) I'm just wondering--I'm generally terrible with navigating and finding my way around, even in real life. I'm amazed by these people who seem to have an internal compass and rarely get lost. In games, I'll often get turned around and have to re-trace my steps in order to find my way in the direction I'm supposed to go--even with a map and marked waypoint. I know, it's ridiculous. But I'm wondering: do a lot of gamers think bigger map = better game? Or, like me, is it more about "quality vs quantity"?

There's no way WoW is not the biggest game, including instances, raids, outlands, northrend, and the original world. I feel they turned down the scale on it.

Is nobody seeing on the bottom right where it says even larger? Elder Scrolls 2 : Daggerfall 62.000? WTF?! How is that even possible? :s

i aways knew lord of the rings online was bigger in terms of map and content. this proved me right.

Size =/= content, there's a reason people never stop playing WoW, there's a endless amount to do.

That's because WoW isn't the biggest game. EQ2's world is bigger, and EQ1 is even bigger than that probably. LotRO is bigger as well.

It's possible, why don't you download it and play it? It's free now :) Plus you'll see why Daggerfall and Morrowind were way better than Oblivion story wise etc.

I think WoW beats LoTRO in content, very strongly. But that's not this thread - Just the feel of the game between playing LoTRO and WoW something about the scale feels different and makes it seem like WoW would be the bigger game - but that might just be because i've always loved Warcraft and it was fun seeing the places come to life, and i was never a fan of LoTR
