[REQ] Need a banner for my blog

Question

Hey,

I just started a blog on WordPress. The URL is -

http://www.iwatchiread.wordpress.com

Its really, really new. Which is why there aren't any posts on it. I am yet to finalize a theme too... But since, its WordPress, I guess most of GFX guys already know its themes n looks.

So, I was hoping you could provide me with a banner/logo for the blog. It must contain the blog's full title.... and while I'm not looking for anything too gaudy or showy, some sort of visual pun on movies/books/TV/any other media would be nice.

I hope you get what I'm aiming for. If you need any further clarification, just reply t this thread.

And thanks in advance!!

PS - By the way, which theme would be the best for a nice, horizontal banner? I am currently using "Motion" and it seems to only allow a 50x50 header image.

I just wanna say I really love the template!

Thank you! I loved it too! However, the only bummer seems to be that it doesn't allow a full banner... only a 50x50 image :(

Just had a quick look at the theme and you can resize genericlogo.png which is the 3 overlapping circles image at the top.

I resized it to 500x100 and it slightly cut the side off so you should be able to get away with something a little smaller, so replace genericlogo.png with your banner image and you should be set.

Not sure if you can do this via Wordpress.com though as you'd need FTP access or some kind of file explorer.

So you mean to say that I can resize the size of that header image, but not on the free blog hosted on WP? I can do that only if I host it on my own domain and stuff?

Which steps did you take to resize the image anyway? I went into my Admin CP and couldn't see anything to resize that image...

All I did was download the file via FTP, resized it in Paint.net and then uploaded it to the same place overwriting the original - if you have a look at plarkster.co.nr you'll see my very crude example.

However, I believe that FTP is a 'premium' feature on wordpress.com or might not even be available at all so you won't be able to gain access to the file, unless wordpress.com have a File Manager. Unfortunately that theme doesn't have any banner options so there's no other way.

If you want to set a banner image within the WordPress dashboard, you'll have to choose a different theme that has the option, such as Arclite.
