0 Mr. Gibs
If it has a brute force mode then it will be able to recover p4KSV8aP0AAB, though it may take a very long time.
0 +BudMan MVC Posted May 9, 2010 MVC Share Posted May 9, 2010 Lets put emphasis where due. From the help file "Recovering long and complex RAR passwords may take a long time due to the structure of the RAR files. Breaking AES 256 with a 12 character password even the simple one you have with only numbers and letters could take freaking YEARS!!! Now I have not timed this tool -- but lets take these numbers, since they say its one of the fastest out there. http://www.golubev.com/files/igrargpu/readme.htm Plain numbers (for RAR passwords with length == 4) are: ~168 passwords per second on single core of Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz (crark's result) ~325 passwords per second on 8600 GT ~3350 passwords per second on ATI HD4850 ~2075 passwords per second on GTX260/192SP Look at those numbers.. Now lets do calc on your 12 digit with numbers and letters only -- and just for fun lets say you could check 1,000,000 a second ;) http://lastbit.com/pswcalc.asp Brute Force Attack will take up to 103725141 years Now sure you could get lucky and find it the first 10 minutes -- but I highly doubt it ;) With such a password -- I find it highly unlikely to do a brute force on that.
