EZ Tutty
Ok just a quick one, I have just setup port forwarding for emule, i am wondering if anyone else has has to setup port forwarding for emule? as other p2p programs like kazaa work fine without port forwarding. Thanks -:EZ Tutty:-
EZ Tutty
BTW i am using a Linksys Router with 4port switch, which is uPnP compatible!
MxxCon
emule doesn't support upnp so that's useless. you can use emule w/o portforwarding, just like kazaa, but however emule/edk let's you know that you are firewalled, unlike kazaa. read http://www.emule-project.net/faq/
EZ Tutty
but with out port forwarding i cannot connect to any of the servers, it simply says port : XXXX isn't reachable. but if i enable port forwarding then it all works ok :s
iamnotwhoisayiam
If you havent enabled port forwarding you can connect to servers but are given a Low ID. With a Low ID you can only connect to other peers who have a High ID. If you enable port forwarding you get a High ID which enables you to connect to folk with both Low ID's and High ID's. Hence its better to get a High ID as you can dl from more folk. --WeeJames
MxxCon
that's just server's configuration now to allow firewalled users on. some servers do allow such users on, but it's extra stressfull to those servers, and you can't download/upload to half of the users
