Coding Quandry & Website Review...

Question

Hi all,

Thoughts on design and implementation of our new website would be massively appreciated - a friend designed it in a simple off the shelf HTML program:

Nap Technology

My thoughts are that I like the design ideas and logo but perhaps it needs to be implemented better - should we be looking at paying a coder and getting him to translate the design into a different code etc?

Finally, I want to get a gadget like this - Gadget functioning on the site. Any idea if this is possible in the current HTML format?

Many thanks!

Michael

Gadget? You linked toa google:docs spreadsheet?

If you mean an auto-calculating form - yes:

1) Using JavaScript

2) Fall back using a self-submitted form

If you are looking to significantly grow this website, it might be worthwhile to convert it from static HTML to a dynamic system with a single template that makes it easy to add pages and make changes site-wide. But if you don't foretell much expansion, static HTML is fine. A calculator can very easily be done with JavaScript.

Sorry gadget is the wrong word - I just mean something to emulate what I've modelled in excel. A pay back calculator. Thanks for the info, I'll take a look for someone with Java knowledge to put it together and install on the existing site.

We'e increasingly talking to big big groups so from a creditability point of view I think it might be worth moving to a slicker, more flexible dynamic system. As much of the design elements are complete what do you think the costs would be for this?

Any comments on the design?
