AltecXP
Can I get a few opinions? If it matters I love old style Final fantasy's and MegaMan games. Do either of these offer great titles in either genre? I'm really an old school(8-bit) gamer.
LightShadow
DSi is the way to go. Yes it may not have HD Games or Videos etc. But it has loads of great games,a Awesome Touch Screen.Has a Music Player and Camera and can use the internet. Or If you could wait. Wait until next year for the 3DS. It will be even better and will have built-in 3D (No 3D-Glasses needed)
Brandon H Supervisor Posted May 16, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted May 16, 2010 stay away form the psp, it's honestly not worth it IMHO, the DSi is good, and has a lot of those types of games for it I at the moment have a DS Lite, I am waiting to upgrade once they release the Nintendo 3DS
Jan Veteran Posted May 16, 2010 Veteran Share Posted May 16, 2010 Personally I would choose the PSP, some great games, music player, video player, PSN, theme support, super fast and a whole lot more. Just my opinion. Also DSi fanboys, a 0.3 megapixel camera is not something to boast about.
SimplySchizo
Get yourself a DS. Great 2d games as the ones you favor and all around more fun. PsP is dead in the water. PsP does have a much more enjoyable mp experience in games such as metalgear and socom and so forth... but other than that, it's DS all the way in fun factor. I recently rid of my Fat Psp. GoW was the last and was the only game i played on it since metalgear port ops. Games are scarce on the damn thing. It's just not worth it. Hell, i've played better games on my iPhone and it also has music player, video, themes, fast and a whole lot more. :D
Phenom II
I bought a PSP from my brother with all the trimmings, played it once, put it in a draw, 6 months later sold it
Jimmy0
I think the main thing to look at is the games on each handheld, and which you think offers more to your liking. Another thing to consider, as Phenom II mentioned, is are you going to fully utilise the system, or simply play it once then never again? I for one bought a DS Lite, and haven't used it half as much as I thought I would. Just something to consider.
Chasethebase Reporter Posted May 16, 2010 Reporter Share Posted May 16, 2010 In terms of the libraries of great games, I look at the DS (amidst the shovelware) and find a large number of quality releases, I look at the PSP and see Gran Turismo. (This is on the store shelves atm). Personally I'd say DS, because I've got way above 1000 hours out of the Pokemon games
Charisma Veteran Posted May 16, 2010 Veteran Share Posted May 16, 2010 I vote for the DSi as well--I love mine! A friend has a PSP and I borrowed it to play the Kingdom Hearts game he was raving about. It was really good, but I'd still rather have my DSi. I don't know how to explain it, but I just have more fun with it. Plus, the camera with the built in editing/distortion tools made for literally over an hour of side-aching laughter when I took it to my mother's house for Christmas. You can edit the image in real time before even taking the photo--I have all kinds of crazy pics of my mom and brothers that are far more entertaining than any previous photo albums we had. Alcohol may or may not have been involved.

Chasethebase Reporter Posted May 16, 2010 Reporter Share Posted May 16, 2010 Yeah, it also depends whether you care for GBA backwards compatibility. Considering I still play a few GBA games I'm keeping my DS Lite which I've had since release (June 2006). So yeah.

SimplySchizo
PSP can pretty much play any PSX game with custom firmware. Though not so fun for the most part cause of the lack of the 2nd analog stick.
hotdog666al
Considering the games you like, definitely go for a DS. PSP is more media-orientated.

red.
Yep, as everyone is saying - it's all about the type of games you like. For me, i prefer the games on the PSP plus i play some emulated games from the Mega Drive/SNES.
REM2000
you can get Chrono Trigger and a lot of good old style JRPG's on the DS, i would go with the DS. I have a DS Lite and a PSP and i barely touch the PSP at all.
