Greatest Guitar Riffs?

Recommended Posts

I love how many metal fans there are on Neowin. This may be my new favorite subforum.

I'll take a couple listed already and add a few.

Tool - Forty Six & 2 (Yeah, Schism is awesome too, but I agree, I'd take Forty Six & 2 ahead of it for the riff)

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Alice in Chains - Check My Brain

Pantera - ****ing Hostile

Lamb of God - Laid to Rest

Chimaira - Power Trip

Chimaira - Resurrection

Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver (Dio's version was bad ass too, but I like Killswitch's more)

Black Label Society - Stillborn

Slipknot - Duality

I could probably do this all day, so that's all for now. Maybe more later.

The bolded ones definitely qualify. The other ones I haven't heard. (Except for Killblow Engage...how dare you mock Dio ;))

Other than that, your list was spot on.

Killer intro.

I agree (Y)

Prison sex ->

My favorite Tool song. Thanks for posting.

During the Mick Taylor era the Stones had some pretty good songs. After about 1974 they went downhill really quick (not that I would turn down free tickets to a Stones concert).

My best intro of all time is still the following

Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Blood Of Faith Stains My Hands - om nom nom

Generally most of the older songs from the likes of

Satyricon, Darkthrone - For black metal

Also a lot of riffs from Daath & Scar Symmetry, are good too.

And anything from Hypocrisy.

wahh it goes on!
