PS3 vs Xbox 360 Red Dead Redemption.

Recommended Posts

We know that.... Xbox 360 is 720p with 2xMSAA while PS3 is Sub HD. PS3 version requires 600MB mandatory install.

- colors more saturated in the 360 version (Gamepro)

- less texture pop in in the 360 version (Gamepro)

- heavy framerate drops in the PS3 version (Cynamite)

- small framerate dips in the 360 version (Cynamite)

here are some screen comparisons

hmmm

its weird it looks like the 360 version is an actual screen capture and the ps3 overlay is like a pic of a screen taken with a camera :p

nah it seems that way. could have had a better comparison shot. Right now it makes the PS3 version look horrible and I can't believe Rockstar would do so horribly on the PS3.

I totally agree it looks like the PS3 screen is taken with a camera whereas the 360 version is a propper capture.

Seriously. Lets compare a screen shot taken from a capture card to an off screen shot from what appears to be a horrible camera phone.

I honestly didn't think anyone was that naive to take this comparison seriously lol

How can those reports be from Gamepro if

EDITOR'S NOTE: The PS3 version of Red Dead Redemption was not made available to us at the time of review, so this review focuses exclusively on the Xbox 360 version. We will post impressions of the PS3 version, including thoughts on the exclusive content, as soon as we are able.

IGN said the same about their PS3 version. I don't know if it was a specific attempt by Rockstar to make sure the first reviews were based off the "better" version or for if they just had a delay in making the PS3 disks and weren't able to deliver them in time for review. We'll see later this week as the true PS3 reviews come up.

There is always going to be a "this console version is better than that console version", there is always going to be comparisons, if you got both systems choose the game on your preference.

You really think R* would release a game on 2 platforms that have a dramatic graphical difference?????

Sure some parts of the game will look better compared to the other console, not everything is perfect. I'm happy with my PS3 choice for this.

Well it's a known fact that the PS3 version does run a sub HD res. something despite it's other quality issues the screenshot clearly shows with significantly more visible jaggies on the PS3 version. and this is not from the camera since cameras no matter how crappy don't introduce jagggies :p

As for the rest, we'll see.

I'm not quite sure what the point of this topic is when we have a perfectly good RDR topic going on, and this is a comparison for comparisons sake when we don't even have proper captures from both consoles to compare.

And these topics always go well...

Yeah I think you answered your own question there. Better in it's own topic so it doesn't derail the official topic.

I think you missed the point, it shouldn't be a topic in the first place.

Why not? Some people own two consoles, like myself, it helps to know if one version is inferior to the other. Much like GTAIV was. All of the demos were done on the 360 version and the PS3 happened to have a very shoddy frame rate which was only fixed in the episodic content.

Yes.

And from that stand point, I can say I quite like the PS3 version..

Night isn't supposed to have a yellow tint to it. The blue of the PS3 version actually looks decent.

Agree on that but why is PS3's image so blurry and 360's so sharp?

That's a question to the person who took the images.

Did they use two HDMI cables or two different cables?

When taking these comparison shots you have to use two of the same cables other-wise you're faking out the data and generating Bullshots.
