Biohead
I decided its probably more useful in the PS3 forum than the linux one, but if mods feel otherwise feel free to move it. Simply for convenience, I'd prefer to rip my DVDs via the PS3, then copy them over to my (DVD-less) WHS, via USB in bulk. The only posts I can find are from around 2007, where performance was a mere 2-3fps. Does anyone on here have a bit more experience? I've tried dvd::rip but it's not seeing the internal drive (read its common though), not got an external to try yet. I've just installed Lucid Lynx, after using YDL6.2 for quite some time. I know it's not the most elegant of solutions, but it would make things quite a bit easier. Anyone doing such a thing?
00000
I don't think the encoding speed is going to have improved at all since then, most of the PS3 specific patches were for the scaling and playback of video, not decoding mpeg2 or encoding XVID. You could still use vobcopy on the PS3 to get the video off the DVD and then copy the VOBs to your PC and use it to encode them to XVID.
