Sikh
Alright so I finally have enough to get myself the A40(whole set). I am planning on buying it next friday(payday) and I was wondering which Digital Coax I should get? http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236 There not that expensive, but if you scroll down it says "high quality + 24k connector w/fancy connector(lol)". I know 24k gold plating helps a lot in connection , so I was planning on getting http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023603&p_id=2683&seq=1&format=2 Its really not that expensive, which is why i love Monoprice, but anyway, I plan on hooking up my A40 to my onboard(for now, MIGHT get a ASUS Xonar card if I have enough money the same day) and the digital to my tv / 360. This way I have the mixamp on my desk and my tv's on the left of my desk, so Ill be in range with my controller and the whole deal. So i was wondering from you neowinians, is this a good cable to get? Also as far as hooking up everything goes, can i run the digital coax to the tv and run it off that? I have a Samsung 32" 5 series that lets me turn off the speakers. Currently I have my Turtles connected into the audio out port and turn off my tv speakers so all the sound is ran through the headset. Will this work the same for Digital Coax? This wa I wont have to get that stupid HDMI "Audio Adapter" for the 360. I have my 360 via HDMI, but I never bought the "hdmi kit" with the stupid sound adapter with 2 rca ports and digital coax. Let me know guys, im excited. EDIT: Also, what do you guys think about the Sound Card? Go ahead and recommend Some. PCI or PCI-e. All I know is, lately ive seen the Xonar > X-Fi or Audigy and creatives dropped the ball on there drivers alittle. Also, I didnt know if this went in "Hardware Hangout" or Here. rajputwarrior
honestly in most cases, cables are cables. i worked at future shop. we test the house brand and compared to the high end monster ones and there was absolutely no difference. as long as they are gold plated you are set. trag3dy
As far as the cable goes, you can't go wrong with monoprice. If it turns out to be garbage you can always send it back for a full refund. As for the rest, you're supposed to connect the mixamp directly to your xbox 360. Unless you're wanting to use the A40's for watching movies and such on your tv as well? I don't think you need to buy any extra adapters for the mixamp to hook it up properly to the 360. And the Mixamp has it's own audio processing so it doesn't really require a sound card to be used. But my recent purchase of an Asus Xonar D2 + the A40's is really honestly kind of disappointing in BC2. The sound just doesn't seem right. I have a thread in the hardware section talking about the issues. I'm not saying the card or the headset/mixamp is bad. Far from it. It's just that because of BC2's own audio engine it makes the sounds not...sound.. right. Xbox 360 best setup: Xbox 360 standard setup: The guy in the video, Walter is really nice. He's responded to several of my emails. If you're still unsure about anything just fire off an email to him and I'm sure he'll be able to answer. Emails on their website. The Teej
I thought if it was a digital connection gold plating doesn't matter?
Sikh
I thought if it was a digital connection gold plating doesn't matter? Same. But sometimes its better physical connection, etc etc.. Ok now, my problem is, the cable i showed is a digital COAX. God im a ****ing idiot because 360 has DIGITAL OPTICAL. I found this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022901&p_id=2766&seq=1&format=2 Toslink Digital Optical 25ft cable. I know this will work, but the problem is, I want my 360 and PC to do pure dolby dts and not pro logic. So I have to connect my PC via Digital Optical. I have digital optical on the board, but the problem is I want it from 360 to mixamp as well. So I can a) run 2 digital opticals to the mix amp. Whenever I use whichever system, i should plug that optical into the mixamp and go from there OR b) i can use the Coaxial on PC(which apprently is the output and the digital optical is the input(picture below). But from my sound panel, when I click the output tab it highlights the orange(coax connector) and when I click optical it highlights optical connector(red light flap connector). What do you guys think. Coax/S-PDIF from PC and Optical from 360? 360 should run fine but im worried about PC being a issue. I know coax should work, if so im just gonna get a coax and a optical from monoprice. PIC of Mobo:
