I bought this router to split my BT Openworld Broadband connection, which I've been using with the USB Speed Touch modem for over a year now.

I need to split the connection between 2 pcs - I've been using Internet Connection Sharing with Windows XP for a while, but would rather use a router so I dont have to keep the host pc on. This router was recommended to me, but the instructions arent that great so I need some help setting it up.

I've connected all the cables correctly - ADSL connection into the LINE socket, my pc to the first LAN connection 1X and the 2nd pc to 2X. The 2 LAN LEDs light up so I know they're connected, but the ADSL LED doesn't light up, although it did before. My main problem is that I cant get into the setup to configure the router - the instructions say to enter http://10.0.0.2 into my browser to enter the setup. I managed to get in once, and I entered my BT Openworld username and password in the WAN and PPP sections as the instructions say, but since I did that and restarted the ADSL LED doesnt light up and I cant get into the setup through the web browser :( .

Does anyone else have this router? Does anyone have any ideas on what to do?

I just get 'Destination host unreachable' when trying to ping 10.0.0.2 :(

My IP and DNS are both set to auto in my LAN settings, so does this mean the router is faulty?

The manual says to hold the 'default' button down for 2 seconds to restart the router with default settings, but this doesnt seem to do anything. I've pulled the power a number of times and that doesnt help either.

I've decided to take the router back tomorrow - I think it's faulty, especially as the ADSL LED did light up and I was able to enter the setup when I first connected it.

I just need to decide whether to exchange it for the same model, or pay an extra ?40 for a Netgear which is based on the same chipset, which is nearly double the cost of the Mentor router.

Any recommendations - the store I'll be going to is Stak.

Seeing as how I've never heard of the brand Mentor, I think I'd pay for something I've heard of and get the netgear. They usually put out very nice products.

Took the router back today and refrained from getting another of the same model - I actually paid an extra ?47 and got a D-Link DSL-504. Got it set up in minutes and am now enjoying broadband on both pc's.

Thanks for the help!
