Killzone 3 info leaks

Recommended Posts

Looks like Killzone 3 is real, the latest issue of Gamepro apparently has the details.

Expect a feeling that the player will be "in a place far away from home, outnumbered", there'll be jetpacks, arctic levels, and – oh – 3D graphics, which require a 3D TV and, obviously, 3D glasses.

The mag hints at a grander scale and a new weapon called "the Wasp".

I've a sneaky feeling Killzone 3 was shown to a few journalists a week or two back, and there'll be an embargo up soonish. Just a hunch, but watch this space…

Will look forward to this. As much as I didn't like the length of the single played in MW2 it did give you a sense of urgency about it. KZ2 had nothing like that for me really, just a get there in your own time type pace. If they could change that I think they will have something good!

That's less to do with length and more to do with atmosphere and pacing. I've still yet to complete the second the ropey controls and horse blinkers FoV gives me motion sickness. :(

:woot: Really looking forward to this game. Loved KZ2. I don't care about 3D. I'm not going to get a new TV because games and movies are 3D.

Killzone 2 had horrible controls so I hope they fix that and maybe expand by using more than 5 colours too in the game!

I won't hold my breath for this game though after KZ2 let me down terribly.

They're doing a collabo with NaughtyDog !!!

You KNOW this is going to be epic!

They're going to help with game engine and with their snow effects.

I hope they rid the sluggish control feel and add button mapping. Those are my ONLY gripes with KZ2.

Looking forward to playing this :)

Don't give a crap about 3D, though. It's a fad in its current state, IMO.

Erm...have you actually seen any games in 3D though? (I haven't, but just wondering if you have...you can't really call it a fad until you see it for yourself).

Looking forward to this game :) 3D, in it's current state, can crawl away and die though... the fact that you need glasses to view it, just shows how out of date this tech is (N)

I never really had a problems with the controls or "sluggish" movement, felt as if you were actually a person rather than a camera with a gun, and I can manage to play multiple different genres with different controls, so I can survive a little change now and then. :p

Controls, the Alt 2 I think it is, are pretty much the same as any other FPS on the PS3. If you have played CoD games, Resistance games etc. you shouldn't have problems with KZ2. The default controls are weird, not sure why they chose those. It was a little "sluggish" when released but they fixed it. It was a little weird at the beginning but after a few hours I was playing fine with the "sluggish" movement.

Killzone 3 will be Killzone 2 with a different story and maps. They are reusing the KZ2 engine so this game will feel a lot like KZ2. So far only a handful of maps are done, but I'm sure the story is all fleshed out.

Controls were OK for me, but the one thing I remember being kinda annoying was how sometimes the character would automatically cover on corners and abstacles. It sometimes worked, if that's what you intended to do, but the rest of the time it felt as if you were a muppet in a world made of velcro.

It'd be pretty cool if they could get the covering in the MP this time. But as for the overall MP mode, i hope they keep it the same. I really liked the way they did it last time.

Killzone 2 was in my opinion the best looking First Person Shooter by now on the console. Combine that with a good story which goes on after the first part and a good amount of features like creative weapons and missions, Killzone 3 is bound to be a great game, even if it will depend on the same engine like Killzone 2 (which really has potential!).

Can't understand really what players mean with sluggish controls, I had no problems with them!

You clearly haven't played that many fps game from the way you talked about kz2. I admit kz2 was a good game but really it was way overhyped when it came out, and I bought the game and after the SP it's collecting dust in my game binder.

controls were not great, at all. c'mon the majority of fire fights ended up with your reticule playing ping-pong with a moving target, trying to zero in. that just wasn't fun.

they want to mimic a heavy weapon? adding a ridiculous dead zone on the analogs isn't the way to do it. and yea again, button mapping would've worked wonders as well.

other than that, the classes and abilities were genius. recent fps games have only taken a piece off the kz2 pie. dropping turrets, creating spawn points, repair abilities, calling in air support sound familiar? ;)

this game... changed the game! :D

look at that NaughtyDog snoooow....

Official Announcement. I thought they would've waited for E3 to pop the news.

I actually enjoyed KZ2's mp, which is saying something since I generally detest console shooters. I'm sure that's part of the reason I had no problem with the controls, didn't play any CoD or other games of that ilk in order to have a "2nd-nature control scheme" that others might have.
