[Xbox] Progressive Patcher

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm trying to start dedicating myself more to the console gamer forum and this is the first of many of the great things to come!

Progressive Patcher

Ran on the PC, you patch an XBE format file in which will make it compatable with progressive scan capable displays such as HDTV or VGA monitors.

Example

MS Dashboard is normally shown in 480i and if you apply the patch to the XBE file of the dashboard your MS Dashboard will be in progressive scan format. Keep in mind, You may also apply this patch to game files as well (XBE) and in return even if it didn't support progressive it will be upconverted during play to 480p (progressive scan)

Tested

MS Dashboard

Hitman2

The Thing

DVD RegionX

Q&A

Q) Will this give me progressive scan in DVD if applied to MS Dashboard?

A).. While it won't give you "true" progressive scan (720p) it will provide with a progressive scan version of the standard signal, the result being a clearer and sharper picture.

Q) Do I need a modded Xbox for this to work?

A).. as you will need to FTP in to patch the files!

Q) Does this patch work on the EvoX latest release dashboard?

A).. There is no reason to apply it to EvoX dashboard (latest release) as it's already progressive scan!

Q) I am recieving in a black screen on my TV after I applied the patch.. how come?

A) :pinch: Make sure your using the Xbox High-Def A/V Kit or VGA High-Def Adapter and that you have a TV that has progressive scan support (480p)!

ok i just applied the patch to dvdx - its running in progressive scan now, but I just remembered my samsung hdtv upconverts all signals to 480p anyway, so i can't really tell. I do give you props though, as I'm sure this will benefit many!
