daliam
Hi guys, I have just recently purchased a brand new laptop and I am wondering what equipment I would need and whether or not it is possible for me to dialup the internet using my mobile phone. I know this is possible with many phones, but has anyone done this?? I have a Samsung A300 mobile phone and 2 PCMCIA slots free on the laptop, I assume it?s a card that I need to buy yeah?? Like most things, I am novice to this so any comments / suggestions would be appreciated. I'm in the UK btw. Liam
BTallack
If you're provider uses GSM or CDMA cellular you will probably merely need a serial or USB cable to use the phone as a modem. Check the Samsung site to see if one is available. Also your cellular company may charge you to use data services on your cell phone, on top of the standard cell rate, and your account will have to have data services activated in order to do this. radioboy
Talk to your cell company but yes, it's either just a cable for USB or a cable/card combo. Just be warned that speed is most likely going to be in the bps range, lol. I know TMobile has a phone that basically acts as a wireless router if you have the service, all you need is an 802.11b card and you can get wireless internet at cable speeds from your phone.
