UFC Undisputed 2010 is a mixed martial arts video game featuring Ultimate Fighting Championship properties and fighters developed by Yuke's and published by THQ. It was released on May 25, 2010, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and for the first time PlayStation Portable. It is the second game to be released under THQ's 2007 agreement with the UFC and it is a sequel to the successful UFC 2009 Undisputed. A teaser trailer of the game was shown on December 12, 2009 at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards, where UFC 2009 Undisputed was named the Best Individual Sports Game, showing a first look at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights contestant Kimbo Slice. The full roster was announced April 27 on gamespot.

Between February and March, James McSweeney, Marcus Jones, Brendan Schaub and Roy Nelson were announced as the four bonus fighters as part of the Gamestop/Game pre-order bonus.

The demo for the game features four light heavyweight fighters (Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson). Limited download codes were released on April 29th to members of the UFC Community and the demo was released publically one week later on both Playstation Network and Xbox Live.

Gameplay Changes

In an interview with ESPN, producer Neven Dravinski said that they made so many serious upgrades to the game that he cannot play UFC 2009 Undisputed because the gameplay is so poor compared to UFC Undisputed 2010.

UFC Undisputed 2010 will also include multiple changes from the previous version, including:

Improved controls, including a redesign of clinch and ground grappling, as well as an improved career mode, starting in the World Fighting Alliance.

Changes to gameplay including usage of cage walls, TKO (cut and injury) finishes and the introduction of Karate, Greco-Roman wrestling and Sambo fighting styles.

Added MMA brands for clothing as well as the introduction of post-fight attire.

New arenas including GM Place, Centre Bell and The O2

Playstation Exclusives

Royce Gracie, Jens Pulver and Dan Severn are exclusive PS3 fighters. Along with the three exclusive fighters will be five exclusive ultimate fights with each of those being added to a special blu-ray disc. The 5 ultimate fights are:

EA Sports controversy

UFC president Dana White has declared himself "at war" with EA over the development of the EA Sports MMA video game. White assumed that he initially wanted EA to develop UFC 2009 Undisputed and remarks "EA Sports told us, 'You're not a real sport. We wouldn't touch this thing. We want nothing to do with this.'" "We put our asses on the line, THQ and the UFC, to make a video-game deal in the worst economy in the world," White told reporters recently. "We go out there and do this thing, and it's successful, and now [expletive] EA Sports wants to do a video game.[10]

White warned the fighters who intend to be included in the upcoming EA Sports MMA game release, claiming that "If you do business with EA, you won't be in the UFC". Former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia[11] and Andrei Arlovski, as well as still under contract Frank Trigg (who has now been released from his UFC Contract following his loss to Matt Serra [12]) and Vladimir Matyushenko[13] confirmed their presence in the EA Sports MMA video game. Fan favorite Randy Couture was under contract with UFC before agreeing to be a part of EA Sports MMA, but is able to take part in the game due to never signing over his likeness to the UFC for use in video games.[14]

Reception

Dakota Grabowski of GameZone.com gave the game a 9/10. His final verdict was "All in all, UFC Undisputed 2010 is a force to be reckoned with. THQ has put every other fighting game on notice as UFC Undisputed 2010 has moved into the domain of one of the best games in the genre."[15]

Additionally, GamePro.com's Caleb Newby awarded the game five out of five stars, calling it "an intensely satisfying experience."[16]

The Roster is Massive! And Apparently the game is a LOT better then last year, which surprised a lot of people with the numbers it sold. I'm picking this up after work (sorry modnation) and it seems like the ps3 version is the one to get!

Anyone else getting this?

I'm not sure what they could do to improve it - the fighting controls were brilliant. bigger roster is great but I hope it doesn't just mean it's diluted with weak fighters.

The only improvement I'd have suggested would be the method by which you improve your stats - that needed a bit more sparkle.

Gameplay is better/easier which is good. I mean that it's a lot harder to ground and pound and easier to defend when on your back. graphics are better, facial expressions are still kinda weird though. I love how they have all the stadiums like GM place in vancouver. Their are a lot of fighters, and i love that Hendo is in the game, i really miss that guy in the UFC. The menus/presentation is perfect. I haven't tried career mode or online yet so i can give any sort of quick review of that. Im still doing exhibition fights to get better at the game.

The ps3 version having old fights is awesome. I watched bonnar vs griffin (best fight ever) while eating dinner (Y)

so far it's definitely an improvement over last year.

I really don't agree with the IGN review (they gave it a 7.8). If you listen to the review you can totally tell this guy doesn't know much about the UFC, and if i'm right i think the guy reviewing the game is a giant WWE fan. When he cmplained about lack of costumes it was kinda a dead giveaway

Can't say if i recommend buy it just yet, got a couple of modes to try first but i am definitely enjoying it.

career mode is really really really really hard in this game, takes tons of patients to learn all the movies, learn how to defend, ground game, training, rest etc etc etc.
