Forum shuffle imminent!

Recommended Posts

We want to simplify the forum index in 2 or 3 stages and merge forums that aren't "doing so well".

The current index can be overwhelming for new members, and over the past 9 years we've continued to add and merge in some cases forums based on member feedback and requests, please review the changes below which will take place from today:

OK, I came up with this.

Please remember that some sections may not make sense to you being where they are, but it does to others, in those cases you can always use favorites to move a forum you frequent and feel is too far down or in the wrong spot.

The index may be further simplified in the future, where needed.

Why is gamers hangout under help surely it should be under recreational?

This was discussed earlier today. Bottom line: it's fine where it is.

It is still too many IMO. And yes the current forum index is WAY over whemling for new user(s).

When you have nearly a quarter of a million members you need quite a lot of forums. Having too little would mean topics get pushed to page 2 and never read by most very quickly.

Basically what Mike said, it'd be too little to the number of members.

Bad move with the Windows Client forum in my opinion. Surely it would have been better to have had the different, most used clients under sub-forums instead of tying in XP, Vista and 7 into one. That's going to get confusing very quickly..

The bottom post in the merged forum is from may 24th.. If all were from Today then I'd agree.

The Media Room

--- Home Theatre Discussion

--- Editing Studio

--- Digital Camera Lab

--- Movie Ratings

--- Wall of Sound

My only suggestion here would be:

The Media Room

--- Home Theatre Discussion merges with Wall of Sound

--- Editing Studio

--- Digital Camera Lab

--- Movie Ratings changes to just Movies or The Box Office

--- Add The Idiot Box for TV Show discussions

Other then that; Its aweesommmmeeee!

Ya, that doesn't make a lot of sense because Wall of Sound is a music discussion area, while Home Theater is more for discussion on the hardware, setup. Movie Ratings is our very own Neowin IMDB and general movie discussion goes in The Media Room, as well as TV discussion. It's fine like it is, and well used.

I never actually been in Wall of Sound so I thought it was just meant as music in general.

Oh well your the boss, if your happy then we all happy :D

As well as what others have said, the category is called 'Help and Discussion Centre', so it isn't just for help :)
