Hi! I've been looking into getting a Game reward card but before spending the ?3 pound on one I wondered if any one here has one?

Also, Do you make full use of the store credit??

Use shops like gamegears and shopto instead. They can be up to £5 cheaper than game. So even WITH a reward card it's cheaper buying elsewhere. :|

Then there is the various codes and sales which come from TheHut and Zavvii post release date.

example Blur:

Game - £39.99

GameGears - £34.99

As coldgunner ive had one for years, they charging a fiver for them now? Seesh bit harsh mine was free but then like i said had it years i bet i dont even have many points as i never use the thing lol

But as Spookie said, shop around mate there are other shops just as cheap as game, i look at there second hand games then walk down to CEX (http://www.webuy.com or http://www.cex.co.uk) and i find them a few quid cheaper. also never forget about checking ebay, play.com and other sites similar ;)

Had one since they introduced them and it was free. Use it all the time when I buy from GAME.

Once you start building up points you can get everything cheaper, especially with vouchers/cash back.

I find it weird how they even charge you for a card now! It used to be free. I mean it is essentially a loyalty card so they can follow your spending habits!

Shopto is good if you never have to run into a problem - but if you do, they are the worst store imaginable.

Customer service is absolutely <expletive>ing <expletive>.

I've had one for as long as I can remember, I don't generally buy games from GAME as they are cheaper on-line, but I do like to go in for pre-owned games now and then, and also buying consoles.

I find it especially helpful if family members are going to buy a game or two, since my mum wouldn't buy a game from the internet if her life depended on it, but she buys a lot of new and pre-owned DS games for herself and gets me a game now and then, so I give her my card and I get the points. :D

I got one maybe 10 years ago? when game first introduced them and the cards were free.

Ive found it quite useful over the years, my mates don't have any interest in getting one so have never minded getting me points when they buy a new console or game.

I think i had ?30-40'i'sh on my rearward card at one point, you can also link it to your game.co.uk account and earn / use your points with online purchases too.

Even at ?3 if you and a couple of mates are big gamers you will soon make money back on the card.

I wouldn't know, I ordered Blur and forgot to cancel the pre-order. They managed to refund my card and prevent the game being sent to me which was nice of em.

and a few days after my credit card was cloaned (had only used my card with shop2 recently as well)

But you don't know it was them? Never had any trouble with em my self and I've used em since 2007. Though GameGears is my new fave shop since they got Blur to me on a Wednesday!

As I said though GAME are ****ing expensive. Still if you shop there it's your money you're ****ing up the wall. :)

I got one when it was free - they are pretty good if you shop regularly for games you can build the points fairly quickly and get discounts and stuff. If you do a lot of pre-ordering, they usually give you double points for doing it too.

But you don't know it was them?

It is well known & documented that Shopto were the cause of the credit card leak. Like I said in another topic yesterday, AudioBoxer, Peter and I all had issues with our cards being cloned.

Internet sleuths over at NeoGAF exonerated them a few weeks later when they found out they weren't the cause.

I might go back to the Game idea then, I'm looking at Pre-Ordering a couple of game from them so double points :woot:

What are they like at deliveries on Pre-Orders?

Except that they were wrong - as there was a slew of people over on the football manager forums who had their cards cloned - between 30-50 users. What did every single one have in commong? Shopto.

I've always received them early or on the day of release.

Whatever method they did, they stole the data from Shopto. You don't use a pin number to buy stuff online or over the phone. All you need it the card number, name, expiry date and ccv.

I've bought 1000's of pounds worth of games, electronics, clothes, tickets etc etc online before. I'm very safe with all my details but the second Shopto are attacked, bam, I have someone trying to use my details to buy stuff.

My bank phoned me the same day and asked if I tried to use the card to top up a mobile, and when I said no they cancelled it. Same thing for AB.

Whoever the 3rd person was (and I think it was Peter), actually had money stolen and had to go the whole 9 yards to claim it back as fraud.

Had one since it was free, I'd say it's worth having. Takes me ages to build up points/credit on it though because I don't buy loads of games and I shop around for the best deal. Rarely go to Game for new games (as in new releases), tend to pick up older games on the cheap.

I had that too, had two £30 Vodafone top-ups charged. Cancelled card, filled in a fraud claim form and got the money back from bank.

Shopto seem to have handled it well, so I'd order from them again. Maybe using PayPal in future though, lol.
