jelli
Every time I have watched a film in 3D I have left with aching eyes, no thanks for 3D.
Solid Knight
It seems kind of stupid to roll out support for something the overwhelming majority of people don't have and won't be getting any time soon.
Xerxes
I'm curious to what is supported [hardware-wise] for 3D, as I already have a 3D Ready 23" LCD (which my PS3 already uses) and Nvidia 3D Vision glasses :p (might as well use them when I can!) although from my own research it's looking like a definitive "no". I'm not bothered if I can't, just curious! It seems kind of stupid to roll out support for something the overwhelming majority of people don't have and won't be getting any time soon. But that is the point! people aren't interested in 3D because hardly anything out there uses it and what does is hardly worthwhile. Sony is using the PS3 as a vehicle to push 3D into the mass market, it's just like they did with Blu-Ray. Many people didn't see the point of including it on the PS3 because at the time not many people had HDTVs and look what happened, more people bought HDTVs. I'm not saying it'll work as 3D is a different kettle of fish but the reasons to why the PS3 will have it are pretty obvious and hardly pointless (although quite a gamble but so was Blu-Ray and that worked out alright, maybe they get lucky again this time who knows). That is my 2 cents, take with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I get what you mean but 3D is coming whether we want it too or not. In reality HDTV has been with us for some time now and it's not like we only recently got it (despite the majority of people only starting to jump on board) and many of the big names are starting to really push it now not just Sony. Maybe Sony and the others have jumped the gates too soon and it falls flat on it's face, just have to wait and see I guess.

Last thing I want is being stuck with an early version of mass marketed 3D technologies or having to upgrade yet again when somebody finds a better way to do it in the near future. LingeringSoul
The thing is, it's coming to all visual media. Blu-ray itself will support it. 3D TV stations are already coming soon -- the Masters was broadcast with 3D capability, and ESPN is setting up a 3D-only channel. There's too many companies on all fronts for this to be a full-on failure or cheesy off-hand gimmick. Cost and economy may keep it niche until holidays 2011, tho. HDTV penetration is still only something like 46% in the US, so there's quite a few 3D-capable TV's that can move off shelves once prices come down very soon, along with OLED and similar techs. I think that's the big barrier for me and many others. I'm becoming more and more convinced that 3D is here to stay, but those prices need to come down quick. I'm looking at a 40" LED screen for my next TV, and the price difference between 3D-capable and non-3D-capable TVs is just a little too ridiculous at this point. I can spend $1,400 CAD on a regular 40" Bravia, or shell out another $1,200 CAD just for the privilege of having 3D capability. It was easily justifiable in the transition from standard definition to high definition, but right now I'm quite convinced that I can live without 3D capability for the next few years. I don't plan to upgrade to a LED tv myself for another 2-3 years at least.
etempest
1. No 3DTV. 2. No good game support. 3. Do not want 3D glasses. 1. Same Here - HD Tv that doesn't support 3d 2. Pain, SuperStardustHD, WipeoutHD will be getting free 3d updates 3. Glasses don't bother me
