DrunknMunky Veteran Posted June 1, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 1, 2010 June 1st, 2010 @ 11:17By Johnny Cullen According to a tweet from Nuts associate editor Rory Buckeridge, Rockstar has pulled out of ?launching? a title at E3 in two weeks time. The missive goes like this: ?And Rockstar have pulled their E3 game launch. Oopsie.? This could mean that we?re about to either miss a full-blown reveal of PS3 exclusive Agent, or a brand new Grand Theft Auto: something which has been predicted for months by analysts. It comes as reports over the weekend showed an E3 list over the weekend which contained a new GTA, known as ?Grand Theft Auto V: Vice City? (thanks, TSA). We?ll email Rockstar for comment. http://www.vg247.com/2010/06/01/rumour-rockstar-pulls-e3-announce-for-unknown-title/ Dun dun dunnnn...Seems R* are doing a Bungie :p Rockstar to have no ?presence? at E3June 1st, 2010 @ 12:45 By Patrick Garratt We?ve just been told that Rockstar will have no ?presence? at this year?s E3. A Rockstar rep told us that the company has decided that LA Noire and Max Payne 3 are to be shown outside the LA event at a later date. The news comes after it was tweeted by a UK journalist this morning that a Rockstar game ?launch? had been pulled from E3. Rumour instantly pointed to a cancelled GTA V or Agent reveal. E3 takes place on the week commencing June 14. http://www.vg247.com/2010/06/01/rockstar-to-have-no-presence-at-e3/
HilariousNinja
The fact that GTA V was supposedly just confirmed at E3 makes is very suspicious. Looks like they'll reveal it before then.
Jan Veteran Posted June 1, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 1, 2010 I hope for a GTA: San Andreas 2. Think of the possibilities.

MillionVoltss
Maybe Red Dead redemption sales have been better than there exceptions and as there are normally happy to hold back for quality, there decided a little longer wont hurt.
what
GTA V won't be coming our way for a while yet. It is probably just LA Noire.
Spookie
Dun dun dunnnn...Seems R* are doing a Bungie :p Limited press presence they get the lime light to them selfs and they can control the flow of information- cockblock any publications they don't like (so GB & Joystiq are out). All speculation of course but makes sense since they have the funds, PR power to pull this off and game pulling power they can say jump and publications have to say how high. Yes because R* are known to make bad games....oh wait Also, you do realise that Joystiq were invited to Activision to play the game, which of course they agreed to. I'm sure they were given the bread and water treatment eh.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted June 1, 2010 Author Veteran Share Posted June 1, 2010 You said R* aren't going to attend E3 so they can control the press in their own time at their own events. And I'm saying R* don't have to because they make some of the best games out there. So why would they need to control the press when their games are fantastic? Spookie
So why would they need to control the press when their games are fantastic? Hype. Same reason for embargoes. You create the best possible light for your product: you put your best foot forward, you don't let people talk about the issues with dodgy textures on the PS3, you don't let them talk about the bad matchmaking and you withhold review copies of games so the people inclined to give your game a lower metacritic average receive less page hits. Some are more scrupulous than others. Sega apparently put an embargo on AP for scores under 80%. Anything below that had to wait till after release. Again all speculation of course. :)
